I gotta say... I have family who visits my house that are severely allergic to animals.. dander, fur.. you name it. And the Kirby has been the only thing to reduce their symptoms. It may be heavier, it may have bags.. which I actually like, and it may be expensive, but I must say well worth the cost for my families health.

I have owned my Dyson DC14 Animal since October of '05. I pretty much vacuum every other day since I have a black dog and live in an apartment with light-colored carpets.

I love mine and convinced 2 sisters-in-law to get them as well.

The cord is nice and long so I can do the whole apartment without having to change outlets and the hose is nice and long also. It gets into the corners nicely and if there is something that I can't seem to get to, the simple attachments are right against the canister for easy switching back and forth.

I'm still trying the figure out the low-floor/carpet attachment. The suction is so great! Granted I live in a small apartment, but I just throw it on the couch to use when I'm ready. It's not like the vacuum has to be turned off to switch attachments or anything. In my opinion, it's worth it to have the apartment be cleaner with less effort.

I got mine for a significant discount from Kohl's. Make sure you watch the sales flyers and if you open a Kohl's charge account, they are always sending out catalogs where you can get an EXTRA 15%, 20% or even 30% off anything you put on your card.
