What a collection of heartbreaking stories on the site posted by dljacks http://www.ahomls.com/katrina/katrina.htm
- the dog that he chewed off his own leg to escape, another one with shattered leg caused by a bullet.

May be she is one of the victims of school shootings? Do we know if someone is looking for a dog like Julie?

anything is possible especially under these type of
circumstances, but cats usually do not wander off
that kind of a distance.

under normal circumstances i have read that male cats
may roam a few houses in any given direction from there
home base whereas female cats will only roam one or two
houses in any given direction from their home base.

now, these were totally not normal circumstances, so you never know ?

thanks for looking up that info !!

I emailed Ron, to see if he is back yet. I think that I need to relate a couple of wonderful stories to him, that I heard today, about missing Katrina cats showing up at their homes.
I want Ron to leave food out for the cats, and IF Fritz is around, he WILL show up at the house.

Hi PB,

I use http://www.mapquest.com/ all the time. Most pets were picked up outside of their homes, so I often get the map and search few streets around the 'lost' street.

You can search for one street, zoom out, see approcimate location within the city, then search for second street, zoom out, compare, etc. In this case driving distance is deceiving because there could be a canal in between, etc.

gemee that was a good idea. thanks. i think he would leave
food and water and he did say something previously about
a trapper that went to his house to trap a cat and caught
a different one. so hopefully the trapper is still helping him too.

i agree that if fritz was not rescued that he will go back to his house.

let us know if you get a reply gemee.

i just sent him 2 emails tonight. one to touch base with him
and one to give him info on the above cat i posted as he was
trying to locate that before he left.

since he said he was bringing that other cat that was trapped to
his wife who is another state, it could be he decided to stay awhile
and has no access to the internet which is why no replies yet.

if alot of time goes by maybe one of us can give him a call.

and thanks tcat !! that info is good to know !!

*************EDITED TO ADD**************

that site was not very CONTACT FRIENDLY !!!! LOL!!

i could Not find an email address and i called the first tel
number listed but i almost hung up as they make it sound
like there is no answering system. they say put in the name
of the person you wish to contact, which i don't have of course.

then there is a long long silent period of time making you think
the recording is over and you are about to be disconnected at
which time i amost hung up.

but being the stubborn hard head that i am i just stayed on until
about a minute or two later....can you imagine !!..... finally a recording
came on saying ....... YOU have reached the mailbox please leave
a message.

so i left my name and tel number and the picture number 114 that
i was calling about and asked them if either one of those cats had
a notch in their ear and i asked them if those were hurricane cats.

i am at work during the day so i won't know until tomorrow night if
they returned my call or not.

if anyone can call during the day and has time please call them. thx.

okay so i spoke to a Patty M at that spca.ec.com place and
she said they did not have any katrina cats ?

so i am totally confused on this one. i was on my way out the
door on the way to work yesterday so this is the first i was able
to get on here to advise of update.

also, ron has been back to NO to pick up a cat that was trapped in
his house, not his cat, and brought it to his wife who is also taking
care of a foster kitten i think they are keeping and then he headed
back and found out an uncle had died so he had to head out again
pick up his mother and head to another state for a funeral which
was going to be over a thousand mile drive for him.

i don't think he is back yet. not sure where he is at this point but this
just happened so it may be awhile before we hear from him.

PLEASE all you wonderful people PLEASE keep this thread going so
people will search for FRITZ.

i've been sick (again) and had to stay home today but have decided
that these two illnessnes back to back is telling me i need to cut
back.

working all day and then coming home doing more work and then
staying on the computer until 3 am every night has worn me down
so that now my body is refusing to recouperate which has resulted
in repeated sicknesses.

so i am begging all those who have a few minutes here and there
to please pick up this thread and post whatever you think may be
a possiblity or if you can email or call to see if what you are finding
may be fritz and then post about it in this thread you would be a life
saver... especially for me cause i don't want to have to cut back.

ALSO.... if someone could please figure out this above link that
ingrid posted..... are there katrina cats in there and if so why is
this lady telling me they did not have any at that location.....

i'm am afraid maybe there is more than one location for that rescue
and i spoke to the wrong location ?

can someone look into that for me ? pleaase.

thanks so much for all your help !! i really appreciate it. hugs to you all !!!
