I almost lost my lunch when I read this story during my lunch break at work.
This was on the website for the Cleveland (OH) Plain Dealer. It hard to find, so I thought I'd quote it.

A 26-year-old Elyria man was sentenced to 180 days in jail and fined $250 Wednesday for clubbing to death his pregnant cat. [Man] pleaded guilty in Elyria Municipal Court to cruelty to animals. Thirty days of the sentence will be suspended if [Man] attends anger-management classes, a court spokeswoman said. [Man] told police he was angry with the cat because it ate his bird, which cost him a lot of money. After he beat the cat, he cut out the unborn kittens. Police found [man] sitting next to the bloody cat and the kittens, which were dead upon removal, [Police Officer] said. [Man] was also found in contempt of court related to unpaid traffic fines and sentenced to an additional 10 days in jail.

The Advertiser-Tribune, here in Tiffin, OH, ran the same story, but left out the kittens and stated the man skinned the cat 
If I had my way, he'd have been fined $10,000 + court costs, locked up for the full six months, plus anger management, community service, and a permanent ban on owning any pets. (I don't know if Ohio law would allow my sentence). |
