I feel really sorry for "Tinkerbelle."I mean that poor pup!She has to be dressed up in hot, stupid doll clothes, even in hot summer weather! And I'm not just talking about Paris Hilton.I'm talking all those poor toy pups like "Bitbit" and "Tinkerbelle."I mean, they don't want to travel around and be stuffed in a little purses!!They want to sleep,go for walks and play! They're dogs!God!I mean, why didn't they just get a frickin Barbie doll!?!They treat them more like an "accesorie(sp?)" than a dog! I don't think I would really consider how they treat their dogs "wrong". I think it's kind of stupid that carrying a dog around 24/7 while shopping, eating, to award shows (lol),etc has become a fad. If I knew Paris Hilton's address I would write to her and suggest donating some of the hundreds and hundreds of items people send her for Tinkerbell to animal charities. On that note, anyone know Paris Hilton's address or phone number Laughing

Let's not rush to judgment. We don't know a lot. If it's just an issue of clothes, what's wrong with that? There isn't much fabric, it's light and it doesn't cover much. I don't see them panting because they are hot. Toby loves dressing up and loves the attention he gets. When we go to Rescue or Kennel fund raisers many many dogs are dressed up and it's fun.

About taking them everywhere. Yes, they are doing it for attention, but how does that hurt the dog? My Toby still has severe separation anxiety. It's typical of the breed, he HATES to be alone. He loves his car seat and car rides, his carriers and being with me and meeting people. Lately, when I'm on the computer he's been asking to be in his pouch and he'll just nap with his head resting against my chest. These little dogs are bred as companions and love being with us. I love seeing pictures of celeb's with their pooches in their every day life. Mikey Rouke is photographed at every restaurant (outside) with his dog on his lap.

Now there are issues with some of them. I read that Britney's dogs aren't housebroken and go everywhere in the house...however, it doesn't look like her husband is housebroken either.LOL. I'm sorry, I couldn't help but say that. LOL It does sound like hers are just accessories for her, but she isn't the brightest bulb on anything else either. Consider the source.

I think its great that they take them everywhere with them. If they left them home all day alone then you would be mad because they were left alone all day Confused . I would take my dog everywhere I go if I could Very Happy But does that make me a bad parent? NO, it just means I love my dog and want it to be with me where ever I go. So I voted NO I dont think how they treat their animals is wrong or bad.

As much as I hate that ditzy blond freak, I think Tinkerbelle is well cared for. I had a foster dog come in that was half chi and half papillon. That thing was 6 lbs and screamed bloody murder all the time. This was in february, so I went out and bought him a polar fleece jacket. He quieted down some. I had his baby teeth pulled and had him fixed (I was told he was neutered, he wasn't, just not descended). He was even more calm after that. But to really keep him quiet, all we had to do was carry him around like a little toy. That's what made him happiest. Having his coat on (even in the house or he'd scream) and being carried around.

Koko, now Frodo, was placed with a wonderful family who have a mini poodle they take everywhere as well. Now, the dogs are best friends and they both love being carried.

So, I think it depends on the individual dog, but a lot of the teeny tiny dogs love to be dressed in clothing and carried around. Koko certainly wouldn't have it any other way.

I will say that I think Jessica Simpson (even woth her limited brain capacity) does okay with Daisy. They actually hired a trainer to come totheir home and teach them positive reinforcement training techniques. They had her spayed, they are learning and trying to tdo the right thing even if she is from a byb.

Well, I can't say much about the clothes. Cheyenne and Prince both have sweaters. Prince has one because we keep his coat a little on the shorter side, so he wears it in the winter. Cheyenne's was given as a gift, and she loves it.

Now, Now clothes are OK sometimes. My dogs wear sweaters in the winter and Ophelia just got a super cute sun dress for her birthday. Of course she just parades around my office in it. She loves all the attention from my co-workers and clients. She's extra tuned in to anyone using their "what a cute doggie" voice.
My concern is the fad side of it.
To be completely honest, I bought Ophelia because I saw Jack Russells on T.V. and in movies and thought they were cute. She opened my eyes to the need to rescue and the plight of "fad breeds" so I 'm grateful but I know it hardly ever works out that way.
Maybe these celebrities that seem to love their dogs so much will use their power over people for good. Wouldn't it be nice to see them giving money and raising awareness for animal rescue instead of free advertising for the store that charged them $60,000 for a diamond leash?

STANDING OVATION

I don't view dogs as accessories, and I think they're just a way to show off the designer pet carriers, leashes, etc. The celebrities with dogs (Paris, Nicole, Britney, Jessica) should all watch the movie "Legally Blonde 2" where Reese Witherspoon uses her little dog to fight animal testing in Washington.

I don't have issues with people who want to dress their dogs up and take them everywhere. What I do have issues with is people who get dogs, do no research, don't bother to train them and then spoil them so much they become horribly behaved, dominant little demons who bite everyone they meet and aren't house trained. But if you take the time to learn how to train your dog properly then taking them places and having fun with them becomes even more enjoyable. Now that I have a little dog this is so much more annoying to me. I take the time to treat my dog like a dog, not a fassion accessory and she thanks me for it. She appreciates the time I spend with her training her and socializing her. She LOVES to meet new people and go places and I try to take her with me everywhere they'll let us in. So I guess my issue is more with the fact that these dogs aren't treated at all like dogs. They are treated like fassion accessories. A dog needs to be a dog. They need to walk on the ground, sniff the grass, pee and poo where they're supposed to etc. Just because my dog weighs 5lbs doesn't mean she shouldn't be walked on a leash or learn to behave politely around people and other dogs.

i dont like how they dress the dogs up like little dolls, but it's not harming the dogs and unless they get alot of attention

Confused

about jessica simpson...man do they ever need to brush that dog!! hopefully they've learned by now how to brush a dog Rolling Eyes
about that trainer they hired..eh...ok...at least they are trying..i think they could have found a better trainer..i mean geez this trainer stuck the dog in an X Pen next to its poop to house train it Shocked
too bad nick didnt get his way and get the husky puppy from rescue Evil or Very Mad

i know just about everyone on here probably buys badannas and stuff like that for their dogs though, i know my dogs have an assortment of bandannas, ozzy has a lil jacket, and eli has a coat for winter.

and yes alot of celebretries donate their money to rescues and stuff like that, alot of celebreties even adopt their dogs from pounds.

ellen degeneres(yes i know she isnt a music or movie star but she's still a well known celebrity) had an auction for her bed sheets like a year or so ago and it was $18,500 and donated all of it to the ASPCA Very Happy

I dont know that Paris Hilton treats her dog badly but she does tend to treat her as an accessory. But she does seem to love the dog so I guess I cant complain too much.

I have a Chihuahua and I will admit that I dress her up and bring her with me everywhere. I dont see anything wrong with it. I probably have the most social Chi in the world because of it. She doesnt mind her clothes and I mostly stick to cute t-shirts and sweaters. Although she does have a furry pink hoodie that is adorable. She goes with me everywhere in her bag. When I say her's I mean it, she owns that bag I just carry it. She wont voluntarily come out of the bag I have to take her out. She goes nuts everytime it comes out.

But I also treat her like a dog, she has been through puppy kindergarten and knows all basic commands as well as roll over, dance, and kisses. She goes to the dog park and plays with the other dogs, she chews on bones, and anything else a bigger dog would do. So no I dont think they are wrong for loving their dogs and bringing them everywhere but not brushing a dog or not training a dog is not right.

Where did you get Bella's outfit? That is just adorable! My sister n law puts her dog in baby clothes at night. She cuts a hole for her little tail and for her feet. She said the dog will actually get excited when she pulls the outfit out to put on her at night hahaha...She has a tiny 8 lb poodle.
