Well, stealing someone's dog is not something I would want to be involved in but that is not nearly as bad as adopting out a dog with an unknown history. You say that the female was used for fighting but you have no idea if the male was used or not. You can guess but you have no way of knowing for sure. This dog, especially being a pit is probably dog aggressive and you might have exposed a family to potential lawsuits, dog killings and/or violence toward people. Very sad. We had a doberman kill his adopter and the shelter knew of his bite history, I hope the same doesn't happen to this dogs' adopter.

Don't most shelter animals have unknown histories? And I assume that the shelter wouldn't have adopted out an animal that was obviously aggressive.

The lady said that if they did, they would be arrested on the spot for animal cruelty

If these people have done something bad enough to be arrested and are still doing the same thing to another dog, why not call animal control on them now?

if your yard backs up to his, you could set a video camera and "play" in the yard with your own dogs, when he is being abusive. you would have yours and his dog on the video, his dog by "accident" since it got picked up while recording your dogs. no violation of privacy then....

did I say that?

I can't find the link right now but there is a whole "underground railroad"
of women who do what you're talking about. They try to get the animals help legally and when that doesn't work they steal them. Try doing a search on "Women who steal Dogs". That was the title of what I read but I'm just not able to locate it again.

Is it wrong to steal? Absolutely. Is it illegal? Absolutely. Is it worth it to save a life? Absolutely.

that puppy in your sig makes me tear up everytime I see it.....

anyway, if I were you I would call the police (from a pay phone, cant be traced to you) and ask what the law is on videotaping someone in the commission of a crime.animal abuse is a crime. I see tapes on the news all the time that were taken by onlookers, i.e. the Rodney King beatings.
I dont think its illegal if a crime is being committed, but dont take my word for it. check into it first.

Cool

Laughing Laughing I cannot tell you how many times I have thought about doing this!! We have a trampoline close to our roof so I was thinking of putting the tape on the roof facing the trampoline (and the back yard Twisted Evil ) and let it roll! That way it would be as if I was video taping the little kids jumping.
The only reason I haven't is because he stops as soon as he hears someone outside Sad I have only seen it from my window.

There are nanny cams (very small videos cameras) that you can live run 24/7, and they are not that expensive. Please do it and stop this idiot from hurting more dogs.

Please video tape them!!!!!!!!!!! Start now!!!!!!!

I called the cops on my neighbor when I caught him punching his dog in the face. I'm sure you all know this story as I've told it before...Smokey saw it too and it traumatized him as the dog being his was his friend.
The cop told me that he could'nt do anything even though I saw it first hand cuz it would just be my word against his. We don't have an ACO in our area at all. I even had to call 911 to get the cop to call me back (when calling the police station, you get a machine and the cop had'nt called me back after 30 min) All he would do was go over and ask the guy if he would be willing to surrender his dogto the cop. Of course he would not...and the cop gave him guff, told him it was a federal crime (law just passed in my county) to hit a dog close fisted. Well, the guy said it was flat hand..but I saw it and his fist was closed! So anyway, the cop came back over and said if I get a video on him, then he could arrest him and confescate the dog. He said it was not illigal for me to videotape my neighbor without his knowledge. Or get pictures if you can.

I'm all for stealing dogs if authorities don't do anything. Imagine what kind of life those pups will lead if you do not get the mother before she gives birth...bait puppies..fighters...byb mommas and daddys????just all bad news. Please try to get her out before she has the puppies. Please. If anything, to have her pts..since she's agressive and such.

I have (sadly) some experience with things like this. I can't stick my neck out too far on a public board, since we are very involved in Pit Bull rescue and in the public eye... But PLEASE feel free to PM or e-mail ( webmaster@***No Spamming Allowed***.org) me if you want some suggestions, etc.

Thanks for caring!
