C.K. is a ten year old domestic shorthair. I have had her since birth. She is spayed and declawed, therefor only an inside cat. She prefers to be the only cat in the home but will tolerate others if not bothered. She loves attention from her owners though. She meets my husband everyday when he arrives home from work and expects her daily rub down. She is accustomed to being around children although sometimes they frighten her. She does let my nine month old pet her and play with her. She would do best in a home with older children who will not chase after her. Reasonable adoption fee.
In the classifieds in Al.
Bet ya the excuse is don't have time because of the baby!! Any other guesses? |

Moving--don't you know that moving is "too stressful" on the cat, however being ripped from the only home it has ever know if not... _________________ Don't say goodbye

| Tess, our senior golden retriever, came into our rescue at 10 years old because the wife had a 6 month old and a 2 year old and "couldn't deal with" her thunderphobia. At least that is what they said, they didn't mention the fact that she was almost blind. But to me, they actually did her and me a favor! Tess is much happier because she knows unconditional love, and has for the last 15 months. Me, because she has brought much joy and laughter into my life! So I guess I can say that these people did both of us a favor, not that it's right to dump your senior for any reason. But can you imagine an animal in a family that they have known their whole lives, how they are treated when they aren't "fun" or they become "difficult" for whatever reason? How horrible is that? I see ads in our paper all the time for seniors and it makes me sick. I think first, how can someone be so disloyal to their pet? Second, I realize that if nobody takes their "problem" off their hands they are going to end up in the shelter. Third, how terrified a family pet is when they are dumped at a shelter, where they are likely to be put to sleep by a stranger. And then fourth, how sad I am when I realize that I can't save them all! Sorry for the long post, but the seniors own my heart! |

I feel the exact same way. I love seniors..I have 2 of my own A 13 yr old mal mix..and a 13ish terrier mix.. and it just really pees me off when people have had an animal since birth and then when it hits senior ...maybe some health issues come up ..BAM they are done with it.
Stuff like this is why I sometimes think people should be spayed or nuetered at birth to stop the overpopulation of A$$Holes |

I heard the excuse "I'm pregnant and my doctor told me that my cat could give me a desease which might harm my unborn baby ( toxoplasmosis), or that the cat will smother the baby in his crib " so often when people were getting rid of their cats.
I did try to change their mind at first, but in the end I just gave up, they just didn't want to bother. It made me so mad |

| I have heard those two alot. I am from the south and the old wives tale was that a cat would "take a babies breath" And the thing is even if they were true simple steps would prevent either by not cleaning the litter box and keeping the baby away from the kitty until the baby is older |

| Lol i just made my husband change the litter box and I keep the bedroom doors shut so the cats can't get in them, why is this so hard for people that are having babies? |

the absolute worst reason for getting rid of a senior dog, is replacing him with a puppy! people actually do that.. just get rid of the old in favor of a cute puppy... what happens to that puppy in a few years?? ahh its so frusterating
seniors are my favorite. my dog is 10+ and he's so mellow, we're at the same pace. its perfect. |
