Post subject: Senior Saturday - older dogs hoping for homes 1/19
|Bless them all. Feel free to add any old faces who have touched your heart.
Bubba ( Valparaiso, IN)
I listed him a while back and included him as my signature a couple of times. Remember his sweet face? He's on the happy tails page!
Rex (Marlintown, WV) rescued
I listed Rex on last week’s SS and he was sponsored at that time. Now he’s got a rescue if he finds a foster home. Bio update: FOSTER NEEDED! Rex has a rescue in DC that will save him but they need a foster for this wonderful boy--can you help?
A volunteer has this to say about Rex: "Rex is a unique gentleman. He came to the shelter on the brink of death and is now an elegant and healthy boy. He has incredibly soulful eyes that will melt your heart and the softest long ears you will ever pet. He loves his leash walks but being a scent hound he does get distracted by new smells. He is a very social boy and gets along well with kids and other dogs. He takes doggie treats gently and gratefully. Rex needs a home with a fenced in yard. I have fallen in love with this dog but cannot take him home with me. I am praying that his forever family will find him. For a little love this boy will bring your family an incredible amount of joy!"
Miss Coco (West Hartford, CT AC) tranferred to HS
Miss Coco was picked up roaming loose in town. She is a female Labrador/Pit Bull Mix, around 8 years old. Miss Coco is thin, but loves to eat and is slowly putting back on weight. She loves going for walks and still has a lot of spunk for an older dog!
Honey (Shelton, CT) no longer listed
Dude and Hank (Inverness, FL) Both are on the happy tails page.
Brooklyn and Sadie T (same place) Brooklyn is no longer listed, Sadie is on the happy tails page.
Hugh and Polo (Hamilton, OH) both on happy tails page

Twister (Orange, VA) no longer listed
Twister is quite the gentlemanly dog. Calm, affectionate and highly attentive to people, he should fare very well as your new best friend and indoor companion. Twister is super social with other dogs and he loves people. He gives copious kisses, wags his tail all the time and greatly enjoys being petted. Twister walks well on leash, is clean in his kennel and is a major snuggler when given a comfy, soft bed. Ultra gentle with food, toys and treats Twister should do well in a home with children who treat him just as kindly. Twister is a neutered male Hound, approximately 10 years of age. He is classified as a special needs adoption because he eats Rx kidney formula food (senior panel showed only mild changes but it’s best to be proactive) and because he has had multiple fatty tumors removed which could reoccur in the future (these all tested benign). Twister is a chubby honey with good quality of life and a lot of love to share with that special person who sees beyond his age to the wonderful dog he is!
*1/2 price senior adoption*
2007 (Fredericksburg, VA) happy tails page
I am available for adoption on 01/02/13. Space is limited. Come in to meet me, or call to get more information at (540) 507-7459.
Handsome Stanley (Brighton, TN) happy tails page
Handsome Stanley - You can see the wisdom & experience in his eyes, can't you? Picked up as a stray, Stanley has been biding his time at the shelter since before Thanksgiving, but his time may be running out. He is, after all, a special needs senior dog in a kill shelter. Stanley gets "special needs" designation because he has some cyst-type tumors on his neck, but they appear to be just on the surface. Often, these just need to be removed, with no further complications; but he needs to be evaluated by a vet, and the shelter doesn't have a vet on staff.
Handsome Stanley is a sweet, gentle boy, and even in the chaos of the shelter environment, he is calm, calm, calm. A little care, a little love, and this guy will give you a lifetime of loyalty and companionship. He's waiting for you in kennel C-2.
