|
|
I`m starting my first day of 2013 with several vents.
why is it people ask for help placing a cat...you get them the help and then they don`t respond to the offer you found for them.
how can you possibly live with your conscience and abandon an animal in an apartment, house or turn them out and move away.
how can you not get the vet help a sick animal needs and allow them to die in agony.
how can you rehome a cat with the new baby or allergy excuse.
how can you surrender a senior animal to a kill shelter and walk away telling yourself that they will be adopted
how can you surrender a senior animal that you`ve had for years to any type shelter... this is your family.
how can you adopt an animal and not give it love and security but instead abuse it.
i realize that some of these vents can have reasons but i can`t for the life of me understand the people that take an animal and then don`t give that animal the care and concern that every living creature has the right to. as far as i can see there is no valid reason to not take the responsibility for any animal that you share your life with. |

I have no answers for your questions.
Either people are callous or they're deluding themselves.
And the worst part is that they probably won't change. |

I can't answer your questions either, and I don't understand humanity as a whole sometimes. While I see a lot of people do wonderful things to animals, the opposite of that outweighs it more than not. This disposable society has got to end. _________________ My rescue Golden girl Lana!

i guess i speak more for the cats because of the circumstances in which i come in contact with them...i foster and rescue for a breed cat rescue...i volunteer for an humane society...
i am appalled by the number of surrenders i see on the animal control web sites.even the rescue i volunteer for has it`s share of surrenders althpugh those cats stand a better chance of adoption then the ac cats..
i `ve had a number of requests recently to help with cats left behind in vacant homes or apartments and companion cats just turned out for various reasons.
people that want to adopt from my rescue have all these unrealistic views of the perfect, beautiful, loving cat having all of these desirable traits that make them perfect. they don`t want a real cat, one that is a joy to have but is a CAT.
i have 5 fosters that don`t meet that criteria and have been so far unadoptable...they will always have a home with me but i don`t understand that their worth as companion animals is not valued even with their personality quirks. |

I agree completely, and it is the same way with dogs. People want a high energy dog to hike/run/walk with, but want a dog that is mellow in the house the rest of the time. Or a dog with long fur that doesn't shed. Or a puppy that can be crated 8 hours a day.
When did animals stop being a priviledge and turn into a burden? It makes me sad and angry at the same time. Half these people who want dogs can't provide basic care for themselves, let alone an animal. Animals are for life, not for 6 months, not until you have a baby, not until you get a new job. I get so tired of it. _________________ My rescue Golden girl Lana!

i have a 13 year old dog that i adopted from grayson 6 years ago...she is now arthritic, has trouble holding her urine steals all the cat food and is too heavy, and is somewhat deaf
i have a 15 y/o cat that is deaf and is nasty...i have a 19 y/o who has stomatitis...i have a foster that was returned because he peed outside the box...i have a foster who loves to tear up anything tearable..i have a foster that i pulled from animal control 4 years ago and still can`t touch...i have assorted others that also have their quirks
according to today`s standard, i wouldn`t have any animals because they would have been put down, turned out or just plain abandoned..
this is my family, four legged and furry...how could i possibly give them up or not care for them....as Bailey`s Mom so eloquently said they are mine for life. |
