| We adopted a puppy mill rescue a few weeks ago after having to put to sleep my heart dog. Our new puppy broke her leg a few days after we had her. She had to have surgery and a plate put in it. She is doing great however she is a puppy! She cannot have any activity. I want to find her a carrier to take her on walks with my other dogs. She is a poodle mix and only weighs 7 lbs but has really long legs. I also need ideas of what to do with her for her boredom. She and I sit in the couch for hours and now that she is feeling better she is not happy about the inactivity. The vet gave me ace for her and it isn't working as well as it was. Any ideas? Thanks!!! |

For the boredom, mind games!
* Puzzle toys.
* If you feed kibble or canned food you could feed meals in a Kong or similar toy that makes your puppy work for her food. Freezing the food in the toy would make it more challenging and longer lasting. Kibble can be moistened with low sodium or homemade broth and then frozen to make it stick together better.
* Teach some new tricks or commands in short sessions throughout the day.
--- Touching nose to hand
--- "Leave It"
--- "Speak" and "Quiet"
--- "Watch me"
* Light nosework where the puppy picks which hand you have a piece of food in.
Can't help with the carrier, mine is in the 55 lb. range, though I have seen strollers for dogs. _________________ Want to know what I have been up to? Visit my website!
