Alabama Republican Party hosting candidate forum
Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at 4:54 by brian.reynolds The Alabama Republican Party will host a candidate forum in Birmingham on Monday, one day before primaries in Alabama and Mississippi.
Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum will attend, but the party has not been notified by front-runner Mitt Romney or Ron Paul.
“For the first time ever, the Alabama Republican Primary will have a significant impact on who our nominee will be,” Armistead said in statement. “By holding our Primary on March 13th, the same day Mississippi votes, the candidates are paying attention to the ‘Deep South Super Tuesday’ and we are excited to see all four campaigning across Alabama.”
The event will be at the Alabama Theater and will begin at 5:30 p.m. Doors will open at 3:30 Monday. The event is free and seating is limited to 2,500 and will be first come, first seated.
Gingrich made a swing through the state Tuesday and Wednesday and Santorum is schedule to attend an event in Mobile Thursday. Neither Paul nor Romney, who received the endorsement of former governor Bob Riley today, does not have any scheduled stops in Alabama. |
