It's been years since I have posted on these boards, but hoping to get some recommendations. Our senior GSD has weak hips due to arthritis (we have been so lucky, no hip dysplasia) however slick floors are becoming more and more of a problem. Also, he tends to be a bit neurotic if he gets out of his comfort zone and paces. As his hips tire while pacing, he drags his back feet and recently ended up tearing up two of his nails pretty badly while at our parents house for Christmas.

I am looking for some type of boots or shoes for his back feet that would help with the skidding, and also protect his nails/paws when he is dragging his feet.

I have found several, just looking to see if anyone has had any experience or recommendations for something that stays on, and isn't necessarily designed for rescue dogs, etc. We don't need anything too heavy or uncomfortable for him, I don't want added weight on his hips if I can help it. We are currently tying socks on his back feet, but that only helps with the nails. Thanks!

Ruffwear makes a couple of all-season boots with tread and they do sell them as singles.
I have NO experience with the Ruffwear boots though.

Chance has Muttlucks. They stay on fine when she's walking but they will fly off her feet when she runs around, especially in snow.
They do not have any tread though so I don't know if that would help.
I also don't know how well they would stay on with a dog that drags its paws.

I never thought about boots when Soda had similar problems! If you haven't already, make sure his nails are kept short and keep the hair between his paws trimmed.
