Post subject: What Does Your Winter Look Like?

Mog the Dog here, taking it all in on this cool, mild and dry winter day. It is dust bowl dry in this neck-o-the-woods with nary a drop of rain in sight. The ancient apricot tree is still hanging on to a handful of leaves, and the chickens have finally feasted enough on the pile-o-pumpkins.

My favorite human companion is looking forward to planting a cover crop of fava and red clover before the next storm. Until then, I do find joy in the dry, brown and fallow days, which are now getting longer, although not perceptibly yet.

Oh, and yes, the giraffes, uprooted from Almost Africa last spring, still wait out the cold days through their vantage point on a tall tree stump, and they wonder, while waiting, what has become of the Sort-of-Serengeti that soothed their brass souls so long and so well while lion-cat and hyena-dog romped and played with nary a care...

So, that's what my winter looks like on this fine late December day. What does yours look like?

MTD

mine looks, and feels, like spring. very unusual for this time of year around here. the leaves are all down, but I can go outside in my fall sweater/coat and feel just fine.

Torrential rain, wind, mud, localized flooding, landslides, trees falling out of the ground and onto motorists, branches littering the ground.

Except for the *torrential* part added to the word rain, pretty typical northwestern Oregon winter weather.

Snowy. Very cold. Blizzard conditions closed the interstate yesterday. Zero visibility, so I couldn't get to work.

Ah, yes. Winter in Vermont.

What winter? 3 days before Christmas it was in the 70's. It cooled off to the 50's Christmas Eve and has been in the 50's all week. It's supposed to be back up in the 60's this weekend. Definitely not winter temps.

Seriously, I cant remember a winter this warm, even for Florida. Shocked Confused

I keep hearing this is going to be one of the worst winters ever for this area. Gallifrey sounds nice, but I believe that it was destroyed a long time ago. LOL.

I think Gallifrey is actually locked in a time prison or something like that. Or at least that was my impression of where it was in the two part episode that ended David Tennents time as The Doctor.

being a Doctor Who fan for 40 years (my favorite is Tom Baker) I am sad to say the new Doctor says he is the last. Galifrey was destroyed by the Dalaks.

Isn't Tom Baker everyone's fav..? No way is there no more Doctors, anything is possible Smile

our winter is like spring, buds are coming out this time of year... have not had any snow that stuck in a couple of years here.

I'd be nice to have one snow day for the kids... no such luck.

The episode End of Time Galifrey is in it. The Master tries to bring it out of the time prison it's in, but the Doctor puts it back before earth is destroyed. If something changed when Matt Smith took over, I haven't seen too many of those episodes.

Peter Davison is my favorite Doctor. Tom Baker is my husband's favorite Doctor.
