and I still haven't made a decision. I just keep changing my mind. My kitchen needs color bad! Natural cabinets, natural table and chairs, beige floors....take a look...
bland huh? The wall to the left is a shared wall with the living room. So I'm thinking one color for the rest of the kitchen walls, and then a complimentary colors for the living room and shared wall. What do you think? And what colors??!! I lean toward warm colors I guess. My living room couch and loveseat are chocolate brown. Anyone good at this color thing?
Here's a pic to show color of couch and loveseat...

Do you have a Sherwin Williams Paint Store nearby?? I am a very "neutral" person, and have "Interactive Cream" in my living room, and "Bisquit" in my kitchen. Trimmed with white baseboards, etc. Both colors are from the same color palet.......warming, yet quiet! _________________

Do you have a great painting, quilt, fabric or throw that you love? If so you can always pull colors from them. For instance if you love the throw on your loveseat use colors from it to determine a palette.
I used to have a lot of deep colors in my home which got very tiresome after a while. Now I use a lot of light coffee colors on the walls with red accents in the room. In addition to the coffee colors I have painted all my doors black (don't yikes until you google it) and kept the trim white.
I agree, picking paint colors is a lot of work! I have made some huge mistakes...or the color looks nothing like the swatch when I put it on the wall. |

I keep leaning towards the light coffee colors myself, but my husband never seems too happy with them when I show him. He wants more color. So I was thinking maybe we could do the light coffee color in the living room for me, and pick a "color" for in the kitchen.
My other challenge is the woodwork. As you can see above, the woodwork in the kitchen is light wood but the rest of the house is dark woodwork. So I'm trying to find something that will look good with the dark woodwork. _________________

I went with a slate grey for the walls in my kitchen with a trim of sage green. I have been viewing that for 6 years. I am now changing to lipstick red on the walls and a copper (faux tin) backsplash from Lowes.
Since the main rooms (family, dining and living) are almost a huge great room( seperated by a think wall section) I opted for a cafe au lait for the lower half and a bamboo wallpaper for the upper half.
How attached are you to the dark wood in the house? We had paneling throughout and it was easier to strip it of the varnish, primer, drywall mud for a texture and then paint. Filling the cracks is a pita...but worth it if you are tired of the wood look. |

| What direction is your room ---a cool color or a cool tint of a color is best if south or west and warm if north or east ---also a border or stencils can add color and be easily changed |
