| Animal welfare activists are invited to a special holiday celebration at the Iron Works Restaurant, 1036 East Fort Avenue, Baltimore at 6 pm, on Friday, December 9. Comedian Dan Piraro will be performing. Piraro is the creator of the internationally syndicated cartoon Bizarro. In 2009 he won the National Cartoonist Society’s Reuben Award for outstanding cartoonist of the year. Vegetarian and vegan appetizers, entrees, desserts, tea, and coffee will be served. There will be a cash bar. A short panel discussion on the work of the Task Force to Study the Establishment of a Spay/Neuter Fund in Maryland will take place. Panelists are Maryland Delegate Barbara Frush, Co-Chair of the Task Force; Maryland Delegate Shane Robinson; Tami Santelli, Maryland Senior Staff Director, Humane Society of the United States; and Darlene Saunders Harris, Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter. Animal activists are hoping that the recommendations of the Task Force will lead to establishment of a public funding mechanism to subsidize the cost of spay/neuter surgeries for those who cannot afford them. Seating is limited. Reservations are required. Tickets are just $50 if purchased by December 8 and are available online at VoteAnimals.org. Tickets at the door are $60. |
