| I have 4 cats and while we weren't affected by Irene, I know there's always the chance of a situation where we, or anyone else, could be evacuated by the authorities who might not take animals, or taken to a shelter that didn't. What do you all think of setting up a network of volunteers who can transport or foster short-term after an emergency? I worked in Alabama after the tornadoes and it was heartbreaking to see all those pets whose owners didn't know where they were and who didn't know if they'd ever see their families again. Any ideas if this is a good idea or how to get started? |
