Keeper, Children's Zoo - (Seasonal)
Responsibilities: Interact positively with Children's Zoo visitors. Must be able to give animal presentations and participate in Children's Zoo rotations. Will be required to perform keeper duties in the Children's Zoo. These duties include the care and feeding of a variety of small mammals, birds, and reptiles. Responsible for enrichment, maintenance of displays, and upkeep of grounds.

Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required with preference given to applicants with a four-year college degree completed or in progress in an animal-related field. Previous experience working with animals preferred. Good observation and record-keeping skills regarding animal well-being important. Must be an effective communicator. Must be neat in appearance and follow Children's Zoo dress code. Children's Zoo keepers can be assigned to the other Animal Division departments when necessary. Must have the physical ability to perform required duties as assigned, which include standing for long periods of time, working in all types of weather conditions, kneeling, bending, lifting and squatting down. All successful candidates for this position will be required to submit to a criminal background check and drug test.

Keeper, Birds - (Full-Time)
Responsibilities: Duties include but are not limited to: providing daily care to the birds, utilizing the Zoo's animal enrichment and welfare protocols, habitat design and maintenance, monitoring and interpreting animal health, behavior, and social interactions, providing formulated diets and monitoring consumption, utilizing operant conditioning for animal management, assisting department staff as requested/required, assisting external customers, advancing the Zoo's mission through positive guest interaction and participation in conservation (WildCare) centers, maintaining a clean and safe work environment, maintaining comprehensive and accurate records, following oral and written directions effectively, managing time efficiently, and developing the position to achieve the highest level of animal care and professional satisfaction.

Qualifications: Four-year college degree preferred with preference given to applicants with at least one year experience working with a diverse avian collection in an AZA institution. Must have the physical ability to perform required keeper duties as assigned, including but not limited to bending, lifting, kneeling, walking and standing for extended periods of time. All successful candidates for this position will be required to submit a criminal background check and drug test.
