Pasado's Safe Haven
Location: Sultan, Washington
Animal care Volunteer Internships are currently open at Pasado’s Safe Haven. Pasado's sanctuary is located one hour northeast of Seattle, in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains. The sanctuary specializes in rescuing cats, dogs, and farm animals that have fallen through the cracks of the traditional shelter system. Interning at Pasado provides an in-depth look of the many layers and facets that are involved in animal rescue and welfare; best of all - you'll get to live on the farm! You will learn to "open" the barns in the morning and put the animals to bed at night. You will feed them; clean their stalls, monitor their physical condition, help with minor veterinary medical needs, and assist with more advanced care. For more information go to: http://www.pasadosafehaven.org/internship.html
What are the requirements?
A willingness to pitch in wherever you’re needed for a minimum of three months, whether it’s helping with licking envelopes for a mailing or pitching poop into a manure pile! You must also be in good health and have the physical ability to help with heavy lifting. Additionally, a great attitude is a must! We also suggest a vegan diet while on our sanctuary grounds and Pasado’s Safe Haven events.
How Much Do Internships Cost?
Internships are a volunteer program so no fees are required. You live on-site in a dorm room type setting, with shared bath, laundry facilities & kitchen. You pay for your own food.
Will I be the only intern?
Many times we have more than one intern serving the animals. We highly recommend you intern with a friend. It's an incredible experience to share and you're also interning in one of the most beautiful parts of the country, less than an hour from waterfalls, mountains, Puget Sound, Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Rainier and other magnificent scenic wonders.
When are internships available?
Since we operate 24/7 year-round, internships are available 12 months of every year. Summer months are most popular so we recommend applications be sent well in advance.
What is the internship experience truly like?
We pull no punches—it’s hard work and dirty work. But it’s fulfilling work, too. You will have plenty of free time to experience the Pacific Northwest but the animals will provide a lifetime of memories
