PLEASE HELP - ELKHART, INDIANA Angel, a rescued 10 yr. old black chihuahua mix, is in desperate need of some help! Her owner Mary, is in financial straits. She's lost her home, her car, and her hours at Walmart keep getting reduced. Angel has a tumor/lipoma (we're not sure) that has grown significantly in size and is now hanging down about 3" from her underside. It's now started bleeding. Mary has tried taking her to several local vets but they won't even see her because they want cash or a credit card up front. She has no credit card and she gets paid every two weeks from Walmart. She is willing to set up a payment plan with a vet!! She WANTS to pay for it...but just can't afford it up front. She has had Angel since she rescued her as a pup. She is devastated that she can't even find out what is wrong with her or that because of her situation, her doggie can't get veterinary treatment. Mary is trying her best by treating the infected area with neosporin & guaze. She says Angel is acting like her happy, cute self and still able to get around okay. I'm reaching out to see if there is a vet out there in the area willing to treat Angel & work out a payment plan. Or if we could at least find out from a vet what needs to be done, and maybe get a fund started to assist Mary and Angel to complete treatment. If anyone has any other ideas or suggestions, please let me know! She has contacted some of the National organizations that provide financial assistance, but they either needed veterinary referral or it had to be an emergency/life threatening. Update (06/05/10):

Hello everyone, I have been in contact with Angel's Mum's friend Sarah, who is trying to help her raise money for the surgery. The latest on Angel is that she went to the vets for an exam and they quoted her over $1000. Yikes!!!!! This actually includes teeth cleaning which she desperately needs, so hey, why not yet it all done together so she doesn't have to go through surgery twice?!!!!

Sarah has checked with the vet, but they will not accept mailed checks or phoned in donations from all you wonderful people, so I have set up a ChipIn for Angel (on behalf of Angel's Mum, Mary) and then I'll call the final amount in to the vet.
