All I want to do is work at an animal sanctuary and take care of my kids and the kids like them for the rest of my life. It would be a sanctuary that has dogs and cats, it could also have farm animals, horses, rabbits, etc. I have a wide range of work experience from laboring in construction and landscaping (in the 80's during summer breaks from going to college), at least 8 years working retail, and 11 years working in an office in the Human Resources department. Also I have B.S.degrees in physics and math. Plus I've been caring for multiple dogs and cats for close to 20 years. Thus with my experience and education I believe I could be of benefit to an animal sanctuary both inside and outside the office (cleaning, feeding, trimming, mowing, etc.). How do I start my search? Where do I look? I asked in another topic and as I am new to this may have intruded, I apologize.

You didn't say where in Indiana you're located, but have you tried doing a google search for "Indiana Animal Sanctuary", and then contacting the organizations to see who might be hiring?

When you say Animal Sanctuary, to me that's different than an animal shelter. Are you also looking to work at an animal shelter?

Indiana is a big place, I have no idea if this is anywhere near where you are, if you're interested there's an opening for a Park Ranger in Porter Indiana. Read about it here:

Yes I'm looking for strictly animal sanctuary work not shelter. An example of which would be Best Friends out in Kanab, UT. A good example of what I'm looking for I saw in this particular part of the message boards about a santuary in Watkins Glen, NY. If the jobs a good fit I have no problems relocating. I'm about an hour north of Lafayette, In. I didn't find too much when I googled Indiana or Illinois perhaps I'll try again.
I was hoping to avoid a sanctuary by sanctuary search due to the fact that at this time I don't have much free computer time (thus the long response time to your post). And due to that shortage of time I must go for now.

Since relocating isn't out of the question, the following sites have long list of animal sanctuary organizations:

You'd have to contact the ones that look good to you to see if they are hiring.

Drumlin Farm Wildlife Sanctuary in Lincoln, MA is looking to hire a Wildlife Care Assistant to assist with the feeding and care of Audubon Ark and display wildlife and supports wildlife educational programming.

Responsibilities:

• Cares for wildlife, including feeding, cleaning, administering medications, trimming beaks and talons, and responding to emergencies.
• Assists with training of teachers and program animals.
• Manages food and other supplies.
• Answers questions and educates the public about disabled, nuisance, and/or young animals and refers them to local, licensed wildlife rehabilitators, as appropriate.
• Performs various building, exhibit and grounds maintenance projects required to support the wildlife care unit.
• Helps train and supervise volunteers and interns.

Qualifications:
High school diploma and 2 years of experience as a technician in an animal care field. Knowledge of wildlife biology and related natural history topics. Ability to communicate easily with the staff and the public. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Knowledge of basic carpentry skills. Must be able to work one weekend day and reside near the community of Lincoln. Ability to work some weekend days. Requires First Aid and CPR certification upon hire, as well as successful completion of a CORI and SORI screening. Valid driver‘s license, ability to lift 50 pounds and traverse uneven terrain.
