I chose almost done but looking at my list, maybe I'm not.
Echoing everyone else's sentiments- I'm going slim this Christmas, but I did last year also. I think Christmas keeps getting slimmer, I swear. I did start a Christmas Club for myself this week, so maybe next year I can finally actually buy more ppl gifts.
I'm not very gifty though I guess.
The list thus far -
My nieces- $20/a piece but I need money envelopes from the bank. I feel cheap with my nieces but I also cart my youngest niece back and forth from pre school and that costs money in gas for me. I love them, and I have went all out for Christmas's- its just not going to happen this year. I also take them to lunch when I can. I do for them when I can. Unfortunately, their parents buy them everything under the sun, so anything I do buy- I end up taking back.
Secret Santa work- $5 item.
Secret Santa- PF - $15-25 depending if I use Amazon or not
I gave my brother 3 men's hoodies from walmart from Black Friday sale so thats kinda Christmas I guess. I also gave him 2 pepsi t shirts, which i diligently collected pepsi caps for.
I bought myself some clothing items from Black Friday also, and after Black Friday.
I got a pedipaws for the dogs. Mac got 2 new dog beds tonight and Cookie is getting one soon for my upstairs bedroom. She lays on an array of pillows and faux fur blanket.
I got toys on clearance last year so I may a buy a few more, but thats it. Those toys with the recycled bottles inside are neat. I don't know if they would play with them, but I know many dogs who love playing with plastic bottles.
My mom has said no gifts- and I told my dad (who has everything anyways) no gifts. We like to go to dinner or something. Mom of course, is still giving me $$, but I won't protest. She doesn't ever really want any gifts. She's hard to buy for.
I told my bf no gifts, but he still wants to. I did get a really nice razor, which i snagged from a free sample offer, and he likes practical things. He ridiculed gift cards I gave him one year, so I am always a little hesitant about what to buy him. In fact, his mother asked me what he might want besides what she already got him, and he flipped out when he found out I suggested a g.c. to a certain computer store.
He wants to give me cash this year, so I plan on opening an E trades money market acct, and growing a savings for him. The only real debt he has is student loans and his car loan, but he laughs when i say "what about emergencies?"
His dad hates gifts. His mom has everything, and she knows my financial situation. I told him to tell her no gifts but she won't do that. It's really hard to buy for ppl that have everything.
I love Christmas, just wish more bills were paid off at this point.
I hope I don't seem like "el cheapo" to anyone, but it's really uncertain this holiday season. I want to try to have fun but not break my piggy bank.
I wanted to do the greyhound forum secret santa but I was so afraid of giving someone they didn't want or couldn't use, b/c my budget is so different from many ppl on there.
I swear, this season is starting to feel like the season of guilt. Does anyone else feel like that? |

You aren't cheap at all....just practical. My husband works in credit card collections, so we like it when we see families don't overspend. |

Fortunately we did some of our shopping off and on through the year. FIL told us that he and BIL were getting us something so that's why we figured we would get them something. We got a card yesterday in the mail from FIL. Was a check and inside the card it said "for 3 oldest kids, call about the rest" type thing. So Hubby called, the rest is to be spent to come "home" for Christmas!!!! It's actually Hubby's home near Buffalo, NY. Which is why they have been calling so much wondering what we wanted.
But now just the stress of leaving here for a few days. I do have someone to stay here and housesit with all my babies so that's not a stress. Well of course I will still worry but less stress than last minute trying to board, etc. And hopefully Reeses will have her babies soon so that will be more worring for me. And I've always been "home" for Christmas meaning where ever I was living. To be somewhere else will be weird.
But shopping is still almost done. Still have to pick up those two gift cards. And I'll be completely done. Anyone want to come help me clean, wrap gifts and pack???? _________________ *Sig under construction* |

I am totally done but I cut back on spending a little this year, too.
I am glad that I did because the poor economy is likely to affect my family pretty soon, especially since the auto bailout failed.
I am also sad that I cut back though because I am usually really excited about the gifts I buy for people and can't wait to see them get opened. This year I feel like the gifts are not quite as exciting. |

Wow. If someone ridiculed a gift I gave them, I'd probably never give them a gift again. That's unbelievable. I think he might need to rethink the real meaning of Christmas. |

Bought, wrapped, and sent to out of town relatives already. Just have to get the baby something. My husband wanted to go with for that so I am waiting for him. _________________

I was done.
I bought one gift off of ebay and it arrived significantly different than it was described. So different that I can't hope to give it as a gift. It's my most expensive gift this year, so I can't just go out and buy a new one. I had to file a dispute and just hope hope hope that either a) the replacement arrives before Christmas or b) I get a refund in time to buy one from a store around here.
Oh, and Bf's adorable little sister whom I love and adore broke up with her boyfriend awhile back, and then her mom told me just yesterday that they're back together. the gift they requested? Guitar Hero Aerosmith with a Wii guitar. And everyone else in my family and Bf's will be getting gifts valued at $25, max. Yeah right! Darn kids and their darn drama.

My bf is a grump and a half so it's just him. It's one major reason we are not moving in together (although we discussed it recently). I see alot of ppl who are like "My husband is an BLEEP" or "He doesn't like my animals or doesn't want me to be active in rescue" and this and that. I don't want to be them. I like things the way they are. I like him & I like my dogs, and I can have both.
He does like cats, however. He's a cat person. My greyhound would love to munch on a cat, so that's the greatest combination in the world I guess.
I think he inherited his father's loathing of Christmas (as well as many other wonderful personality traits).
I still like the 'ole cratchet anyways. |

I'm done, but I only have 5 people to buy for. My son, his girlfriend, my nephew, brother and sister.
and the gifts are very unoriginal. They all get cash.
I do buy Kyle a non-cash gift, because Christmas is his Birthday as well. _________________
