A friend of mine sent this to me and asked me to post here.
I hope you can help spread the word. I returned earlier this month to Louisiana to rescue after Gustav and Ike. After completing many rescues, I found that Ascension Parrish (Baton Rouge), was putting dogs and cats down almost daily. We did our best to rescue most of the cats - for now. But the problem continues.
The pets that are in there now are orphans of the storm. But, in my opnion, they are not being researched to see if they can find their families. Before a family has time, as animal care and control are only open M-F 1- 4:30, the animal is euthanized. There are no weekend hours and no chance for a working family to come look for a missing pet. |
