| I thought it might be fun to do a poll to see who everybody thinks is going to win the Presidential election. This is NOT who you WANT to win, it's who you think is GOING to win. Maybe it's the same but some may want one person to win but not be very confident that he is going to. |

I am really torn on who is going to win...I think it is going to be really close...Each canidate has some great ideas that they could bring to the US. Whoever wins, I just hope they are open to suggestions and will reach across party lines.

Until Palin entered the picture I thought Obama. Now, I am not sure. I think it will be very close.
While you asked my opinion, and not who I think should win, and I gave you my opinion I hope my post does not ruin your thread. _________________

I think it's going to be Obama. I think this because I actually think Palin being on the ticket will cost them votes.
I do agree that it is going to be very close just like the last two. _________________

It's going to be close, very close. Before McCain picked Palin, I had no idea who would win. Now, I think it will be Obama. Palin is very very right wing, and I think McCain killed his chances of getting Democrats who weren't fans of Obama by picking her as his running mate.

Judge Judy would be awesome!
I think Obama. I think Sarah Palin is going to hurt in the long run, but even without her, McCain is the same party as the current Pres, who is at an all-time low in popularity, and McCain can't seem to address the economy, which most people are concerned with right now. _________________ Show me your horse and I will tell you who you are. ~Unknown |

I think Obama will win. I think the Palin bounce will fizzle out and in light of the economy sinking deeper and deeper into the toilet, I think people will be voting out the Republicans. That doesn't mean I think people will be voting for Obama because they think he's the best person for the job. As usual, our presidential election comes down to who you think is the lesser of the 2 evils. I've always loved the idea of writing in a candidate but I want my vote to count, especially in this election.

I think it will be very close too, as current polls indicate, but unfortunately I think McCain/Palin will win. You can't discount the evangelical vote and with Palin on the ticket McCain will have their vote. Before Palin a lot of conservatives were disenchanted with the McCain nomination as he wasn't consvative enough and many planned not to vote. But with Palin on board these people are now behind McCain. Unfortunately a lot of people will vote for a candidate because they seem nice and likeable, like a good American, and that's how many see Palin. Just like they thought Bush seemed like a nice guy, a cowboy, "just a regular guy like one of us".
But hopefully all the people that normally don't vote but are now feeling energized by Obama will show up on voting day and my suspicion will turn out to be wrong. Another 4 or 8 years like this and things will be plain desperate. |

Rocktosh, I know here in NC the last really four years they have been pushing this early voting. I think because of it more people will be able to get out and vote. I know the only reason my husband can vote is because of early voting. There is no way he'd be able to otherwise. 11 hour shifts are not conducive to voting. So early voting has been a wonderful thing. With early voting we get I can't remember if it's 2 or 3 weeks to vote Monday through Saturday at specified locations. The libraries being the easiest locations for most people to get to. I know four years ago we had a huge turnout and a good part of that was actually because of the early voting. It enabled many people like my husband who otherwise would not have been able to vote to be able to vote. _________________

d_random, thank you for posting that link.
I think that it is interesting that a person in forclosure who has not yet moved, and so cannot register to vote in another area, could be blocked from voting.
Michigan has historically voted for the Democratic candidate. Many of the people in forclosure are the middle-class working people of diverse backgrounds (whose concerns for the country may run the gamut) but whose main concern happens to be the horrendously slow economy. Michigan has the highest unemployment rate in the nation resulting in a record number of forclosures statewide. McCain's reflections upon the state of the economy in recent months have not sat well with the multitude of people who suddonly have no job yet still have a house payment.
If people in forclosure are blocked from voting then I believe the republican party will have (IMO) an unfair advantage. |
