I have been reading some of the parish forums on Nola and there have been some requests for assistance with animals, need for horse trailers, etc. Does anyone have emergency phone numbers for any of the animal rescue groups that are working now in Louisiana?
Does anyone know if the ARNO voicemail/rescue line: 504-571-1900 is active?
Hurricane Gustav is rapidly becoming a monster storm with forecasts that it will begin hitting the coast tomorrow sometime so time is of essence. Hurricane Gustav pounded Cuba with COASTAL STORM SURGE FLOODING OF 18 TO 23 FEET ABOVE NORMAL TIDE LEVELS, ALONG WITH LARGE AND DANGEROUS BATTERING WAVES ALONG THE COAST OF WESTERN CUBA. It is better to get pets and people evacuated rather than having to rescue them afterwards. |

For those who are evacuating and have no place to go with pets...The Memphis animal Shelter located in Memphis, Tenn is now taking in the pets of evacuees, and there is a Vet nearby who is also taking in the pets of those who need a place for their pets. The Red Cross is puting the evacuees up in local motels and hotels as well, so share this info with friends and neighbors with cars. |
