Ooops, I'm sorry about the poll and not much of a choice. Embarassed I thought I was giving a good choice, but then a couple didn't show up. Sheese, I must have cancelled them. Mad You gotta know, I am not the brightest crayon in the box. Laughing Rolling Eyes
Connie, I just bought a bag of Taste of the Wild, too. I didn't give it to them yet, I think I'll start tomorrow and mix it with the Canidae and whatever else I have.
BTW, Canidae has raised the price per lg bag and lowered the amount of
food from 40 lbs to 35 lbs. They used to be a great bargain, good food at a good price. Now I think they have made a big mistake. I also understand that the food now swells up in water quite a bit. Which isn't good if the dogs to eat and then drink water.
Oh well.............

I ran out of Canidae (it was one of the old bags) and decided to let Callie & the foster Chis switch cold turkey to the ToW with duck. Callie & Woody are enjoying it - no problems with kibble size seeing that it's larger than Canidae. Angel's not sure, but it could be her teeth rather than the kibble. (I poured a tablespoon or so of water in her bowl to soften the food and she's going to town with it. The kibble doesn't puff up, but it does have a fantastic aroma now. I think the dogs may be eating better than the humans in this house...)

As for the higher price/smaller bag, I think they did that with the mid-sized bag too. (I think the old bags were 17-lbs and the new ones are only 15.)

I had Canidae in my dogs rotation, but after the new formula came out, I haven't bought a bag. I think I'm just going to bite the bullet and switch back to Natura. Whether its Innova, California Natural or Evo, I have never been disappointed with the quality, and I have never once had to question ingredients or where it's produced. It's more expensive, but Canidae is awfully expensive now too, so a few more bucks doesn't matter.

I had gotten a bag of Canidae about a month ago and was wondering why some of the dogs poops were so icky. Sure enough it was the new formula. We'll finish off that bag and remove Canidae from our rotation. Too bad, it was a good food.

Well I bought a new bag of Canidae about two weeks ago and though the kibble looked different I thought nothing of it. I had no idea they were switching formulas, isn't that nice. My one year old Shepherd/Collie has developed terrible bad breath and I have been pondering what is wrong with her all day long. Then I go to compare Canidae to Innova online and that's when I realized Canidae has switched their formula. I don't know exactly what they switched for sure. Of course online they make it sound like the greatest thing ever. I'm thinking that is the cause of my poor dog's TERRIBLE bad breath. We'll be switching to a new food soon. They could have put "Improved Formula" on the bag or something.

I'm not even messing with ithe new forumla because of Sharmir's allergies. I'm hacked that they added all the extra carb sources, even on the "allergy" foods.

I went and bought a bag of California Natural last night since the girls are almost out of the old Canidae.

cali natural is special order around here... i get it for the cats but i think it would be too pricey to special order the big dogfood bags.

i checked out that call of the wild you all are mentioning online, i dont like thier ingredients.... they also have that mystery "ocean fish meal" i am not comfortable with that.
lexi has bad gas on both solid gold and merricks so i am hoping the feed store carries something good. ive never tried wellness...
and i dont wish to choose other stores as i like to support this feed store i go to.

Question- Did they change the Felidae ingrediants as well? Cheza and Tsume are eating it and I wonder if this is why cheza stopped eating???

Drat... I thought I read the bag carefully, but there it was in the middle of the list. I guess it's back to the drawing board.

I had been feeding Canidae, but started my dogs on Taste of the Wild awhile ago. They're really doing well on TOTW. Their coats are gorgeous! Shiny and lush. And my allergy-prone guy has no problem with TOTW.

I've fed them Innova and CA Natural in the past and they never looked this good.

So, despite the fact that I have reservations about feeding a Diamond Company food, and the fact that some of the ingredients aren't as good as I'd like, I think I'll keep feeding TOTW for awhile.

I haven't gotten a bag of the new Canidae yet. We still have about half of the old one yet. I think I need to find something soon to switch them to but am not sure what. Give me some ideas. My husband is being a pain about this and would like nothing better than to put them on Purina which I refuse to do. What do you think a good replacement would be? Comparable in price and serving size would be nice. Wicket is almost 4 and Glory is almost 7. Neither seems to be allergic to anything, but they have been eating Canidae for about 3 years now.

Anything made by Natura is a good bet. Innova, California Natural, Healthwise. They make EVO, too, but it's pretty pricey, and grain-free.

That doesn't bother me, after all I take "fish" oil capsules. Shocked
Now if it said, seafood.......that could be anything in the sea. Rolling Eyes
So for right now, I'll finish with TOTW. My gang loved Canidae, now I have to find something they love as well. I did buy the TOTW, smoaked Salmon, but to be honest with you, they aren't crazy about it. And I have one that has an allergy to chicken. So maybe I'll try CN-lamb & rice
next time. It's like doggie buffet here. I don't think they like anything with fish in it. *sigh*

I decided that I wasn't even going to try the new formula and have already switched my dog over to Innova, which she loves!
