Oscar had his xrays today, picking him up in a couple hours. sadly tho, based on xrays it does not look very good. he also sneezed and a little blood came out, they were able to put that under a microscope and said the cells looked like cancer. but of course they have to send it off somewhere to be sure and results won't be in for 2 weeks. so I have to wait for that to know what we are up against, and gonna spend the next 2 weeks spoiling him rotten.
if it is cancer I will not put him thru surgery or suffering at his age. the prognosis for this even with surgery is not good anyway. I want his last days or weeks to be the best they can. he deserves that. |

Hi Oscarmom,
Just had a chance to take a look at PF and see how you all are doing. I'm so sorry to hear your news about Oscar!
I've gone through a bit with a couple of my own dogs in recent years and luckily by the time the second became sick we had some alternative/holistic vets here. I'm unlcear with what you have posted how long you have, but in case the info helps, I used a Vet that specialized in Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine for the last year our first Greyhound was alive for pain management. He actually had a spinal & heart problem (it's complicated) and they did a tremendous job in relieving his pain, keeping him on his feet (his rear would actually go out completely at times) and giving him quality of life. I don't think I would have been able to enjoy his company for more than a couple of months after the initial problem without their help. I wished they would have been around for our first dog.
Anyway, sending you and Oscar much love and hugs. |

Sorry to hear about Oscar. Will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Having just lost my husband to cancer I understand the terror you feel at the just the thought of it. No matter if it is one of our pets or one of our human family, cancer too often takes those we love.
I'll pray this is instead something you will be able to fix. I'm not on the board often now - not doing much of anything right now, but will check back to see how you and little Oscar make out. |

Bugsmom, I'm so sorry to hear about your husband. I'm sending prayers and good thoughts to help you in your healing. (((((Bugsmom))))
Oscarmom, it's terrible when our "kids" are sick and in pain. Oscar knows that you love him and that's what is important. It's a difficult decision that you have to make but I know you will do what is best for him. |

Bugsmom, I don't come here nearly as often as I used to either, but I remember when you first posted that your husband was diagnosed with cancer (not that long ago), and everyone was praying for you and him - including myself. Each time I would check out the forum, I kept hoping for an update but hated to ask because I was afraid I had just somehow missed it. I am so, so sorry to hear that you lost him. Keep your chin up - we're all pulling for you.
Oscarmom, same goes for you. We're all pulling for you and little Oscar. |

I came here to check on Oscar, I am so sorry it turned out to be what we thought it was. I know the surgery is not a good idea especailly for one little old guy.
Remember to take photos and do all the things he likes to do. I am hoping you will still have plenty of time with him. We had Suzy for at least 9 months after it was diagnosed.
Bugs, I am so sorry about your husband, I remember when you told us he was diagnosed with cancer, it really seems such a short time ago. I am so sorry.
I will be praying for you to be strong and I hope you will hang in there. |
