I would like to know if any one in the Philadelphia area uses a pet waste removal servce? This service caters to people with dog that are kept in the yard, but the owner does not have the time for cleaning up the waste.

I use to use a pet waste removal service, but the guy made me mad cuz he always called and said he couldnt make it out to my house. So I fired him...and picked up the poo myself. lol
(he always canceled when it was going to snow...so even though i hired him to come once a week....he was there maybe once every few weeks....so I always had piles of poo in the yard)

I don't live in Philly area, but around me, I see loads of pet waste removal services. I was flabbergasted when I saw the ad also listed litter box cleaning once a week for $40! |

| I would not pay for it. I'm cheap. I only have one dog however. |

| I would not use such service either because I like picking up the poo right away. When I go outside for my dogs for potty at night, I carry a flashlight with me. |

I never even knew these things existed! Would be useless to me because Benny only poops on his walks, so we obviously pick it up right away. Even if Benny did poop in our yard, we'd pick it up right away. _________________

I saying if you had a very demanding life, with a dog in the backyard
and the price was resonable, not $40 to clean a litter box. Would you not pay someone (if you weren't cheap, and did not have the time or physical capabilities to do it yourself) $20 to come by weekly? A Service you could depend on. This is not for people who walk and pick up, but for those who's dog goes in the backyard and your time is extremly limited. After all most pet foods are synthetic so pet waste can take anywhere from 1 to 4 years to decompose. And I'm sure most of us are aware of those who have dogs in the yard and don't clean up. They do not make great neighbors.

Honey your 15 there are lots of things you haven't seen. But yes they do exist. And because of our limited resource you will began to see them
popping up. Pet waste contaminates are water supply. Not all sewers go to a water treatment plant, some run directly into our waterways. |

I cant imagine what I would do if I kept my dog in the backyard...I've seen pet waste removal services but I dont think I would use one, my brother picks it up for free!
Also at any age there are a lot of things a person has not seen, someone who picks up dog waste as a profession not being one of the most profound ones. |

I'm 34 and have never heard of one! Of course, I live in SmallTown Ohio, so that makes a difference.
Next question is, what does everyone do with the poo? Can it be composted? I'm sure the garbage men hate me with 4 big dogs... |

LoveForMutts, I have never seen someone pick up poo for a living, either.
We dump the poo out of the bag and into the toilet, then throw away the bag. _________________

There are several of these companies in my area. I do use one, just because my yard is so large (10 acres), and I have 2 small kids and they always manage to find the poop to step in.
They spend about 2 hours walking around finding and bagging poop (I have 1 dog). I pay $100 per month.
They come 2 times a month.
The owner used to be an electrician, and he said he makes more money picking up poop!!!
I think it is worth it, 1 less thing for me to do! |

| I saw it on tv once and I thought it was a good idea. The guy was making a pretty good living at it. I have some mobility issues and sometimes wish there was someone I could call if the price was decent. But not 40 bucks. |

we have the service here in Canada as well, but, quite frankily, that's what husbands are for, lol
we just throw it in the garbage can, tied up in a real garbage bag. _________________ waiting for a home - Ben
