I get tired of it.
People that claim to be "animal lovers" and are fanatical about saving the world and all it's creatures but for some lame excuse, can't be decent towards their own fellow man--other people! Sure, people have shortcomings and make mistakes but I assure you, coming into my Vet office with a high-and-mighty attitude, won't get you anywhere. And that my friend, is guaranteed.
I'm the youngest employee at my work. While I may not appear to have much experience, I take my job very seriously and (I think) I have a natural connection with most animals that come in. But time and time again, I'll get those annoying people that'll stop me as I'm drawing up a vaccination and say "Oh, perhaps we'd better let [insert name of a longer time employee] do that." Oh god, shut up. Grrrr.
In addition, I'll get those dumb people that come in WITHOUT a collar or leash on their precious little pooch and expect me to trim their nails. Yeh, right.. All the while, the client is amused with me struggling with the furball to keep still while I clip clip clip. Hold your damm pet.
And after all the rattle and roll, when they're ready to frolick on out of our office, they argue with me about our prices going up. "You know, last year I came in and you only charged me this much." I hear constantly. Well you know what? Prices go up, when everything else goes up. How do you think we get our vaccinations and medications? They just magically appear in our refrigerator? Or, does the UPS guy drop them off? Idiot.. And would it kill you to say thank you before walking out of our door?
So that's my rant for the day. I go to work in about an hour or so. To re-live the exciting events in a Vet office. Anyway, are you a pain in the butt when you're at the Vet office? |

Actually yes I am a pain in the butt at the vet. Mostly because my vet does the bare minumum in care and thinks I am foolish for wasting money on needless tests. I usually try to do research before I go in and then try to have an intelligent discussion with him. He rolls his eyes and tells me not to waste my money on tests. Sorry, but I like to know where we stand with my kids, especially my seniors. I owe them at least that much. If I am not their advocate, who will be?
But I am always kind to the office staff because they deserve it. They do all of the hard nasty work and I appreciate their kindness to my kids. _________________

My last Vet was like that.
I'd pay $30.00 for him to tell me, "There's nothing wrong with your dog", even when I had told him she's had a fever for quite sometime and hasn't been eating for several days. Then he'd reluctantly say, "Well I guess we could run tests if you want but that'll cost you quite a bit of money." Ugh, yeh no kidding.
My current Vet (the one I work for) is great. He'll run tests and even encourage people to let him run tests when they'd rather just wait another 2-3 weeks to see what happens. Which ultimately could mean the difference between life or death. |

| i realized last week that i am a pain in the butt at the vet. it's not because i don't do every test or procedure the vet tells me because i do. it's because i expect them to remember me and my dogs each time i come and they don't. the girl who used to work there did, it was so amazingly helpful not to have to tell the entire story again each time. now, there are new people who do not seem to know me from adam even though i talk to them at least weekly and see them two or three times a month. i get irritated now. |

I have no reason to be a pain at my vets office. Our vet and his office staff are some of the most caring wonderful people in the world. Dr. Favaloro took over from the previous vet (who was wonderful also, my hubby and his family had been going there ever since they had pets). When we first adopted our dog she was in really bad shape, extremely underweight, kennel cough, and heartworm positive. He ran tests, explained everything he was doing, ran through how to do her medicine several times until we got it just right and explained every condition she had pausing to let us ask questions. His staff handles every animal lovingly and fawns over them all. They are professional and curteous.
We've had to go in several times since she has had bad allergic reactions, she's had a staff infection, and her hips hurt her a lot. Everytime he crawls on the floor to her, yes .. the vet gets down on his hands and knees and baby-talks her (she's very shy around people) coaxing her to him, the vet techs will do the same and pet her and bring her a treat or two. I've never seen a more caring vet office. They do their job, they do it well. They're busy but care and will take the time needed to settle your worries and they're so inexpensive to boot. We only had to pay an office visit once, the followups to check up on her almost every week was free, just had to pay for her bottle of medicines.
Sorry for gushing, we just love our vet office and so does our doggie, she gets excited when I say "Vet Time!" |

I also stick his poo to the side of the house!!!
I scoop some out of the yard and attempted to throw it in the neighbors yard.. I found it the next day about 6 feet high on the wall! |

I am a big fat pain in the butt.
Not at the vet's office though. Not usually, anyway.
Lucy is a pain when the other vet sees her. She doesn't call her Lucy Goosey Girl like her regular vet does.
When I pay, I usually ask if that is all, because I find the rates reasonable. I bring Lucy to the most expensive vet around, but it is well worth the extra money, especially since I have had so many over $300 visits, and $1000 surgeries with Lucy, that anything less sounds like they haven't charged me for everything that they have done.
Lucy is well over the $8000 mark in vet bills and meds in 5 1/2 years. _________________

Lmfao! I just re-read this thread and it cracks me up. I'm at work and thought I'd see what replies I got. I still stand my ground about annoying clients, tsk tsk.
*Spins around in office chair* Whee! |

I'm not, or at least try not to be. My vet is wonderful. Altough I do always call first to make sure she is going to be there. She is wonderful with cats. Unfortunately the other two vets are not that good with cats. They are great with dogs, but not cats. _________________

I tend to ask a lot of questions and then say yeah, I'm not gonna get that vaccine . So I guess I can be a pain in the butt!
I too expect them to know me and my animals - and they do, so I am happy!
I brought my vet an 8X10 picture of Grobbles and she was in heaven! She was soo soo happy, infact she didn;t charge me for my visit _________________

I ask way too many questions. Prime example:
Cooper has some infected bum glands. Took him to the vet. Vet says do this, give him this, x number of times a day, blah, blah, Ok, well what if it doesn't work, you said its pretty bad. Then we'll try this. What are the side effects? How likely are they? What if that doesn't work? What are possible problems that can occur with that procedure? I think you get the point. Generally get up to the point where it is major freaking surgery for a stinking minor infection (needed another week of meds but is doing better, thank you). My poor vet.
I'm so interested in all this stuff and just sent in my registration to start vet tech classes, so I'm honestly curious. With 4 dogs, they always ask before I leave if I need any "supplies". Anymore the receptionists knows my voice. Typical phone convo: "hello, ____animal clinic"
me: Hi I need an appointment for a nail trim
receptionist: Oh, Betty needs a manicure
me: yup, when can you fit me in.
Its nice, they are a pretty busy office, but have a professional yet comfortable feel. |

I LOVE my vets and their office! Of course, I'm in there every other week it seems, year round, so they know me very well. I send them thank you notes and goodies. The girls that have been there for a while know me but even the new girls are great although they don't know me yet.
I work in a doctor's office so I can empathize on annoying clients!!!!! |

| Last time i went to go get Rusty's shots the vet was really nice and we weren't pains at all.... except Rusty hates going, driving up to or walking up to ANY building (even when we first adopted him he refused to go peacefully with the volunteer guy to get his microchip) and the vet just took the leash and dragged him through the bushes to my car i thought that was weird. |
