Hello,
I own a small, home based cat rescue. In January i received a call from a very stressed out lady. She was moving down to Florida, (we live in michigan) and she was wondering if i could foster her cats for a few months until she had gotten settled down there and come back up and get them. This took me a few days to think about. She seemed so desperate, and offered a large donation to the rescue. Of coarse, we all need money to take care of these wonderful animals, expecially for vet costs. So i ended up taking her cats. There were two, a male and female, between 3-6 years of age. She came over to my home (where i kept them in my bedroom) for months. I required all paper work from the vet, and money to just take care of them (litter box, food). She gave me no litter or a good supply of food. So i went out and put them on a VERY good diet, Wysong, anyone who has heard of the know it is a premium diets, that what all my cats are fed. She emails me over the past few months, about a couple of times a week. Then starts sending me threatening emails about how she drept her kittys were being mistreated. She would swear at me in her emails and threaten how i better be takeing care of her cats correctly. I had a problem with that, seince i KNEW i was. I called her daughter and she told me her mother can get very stressed out over deals and become very upset and that she would talk to her. This did happen, and the mother apologized. A few months later, she ending up driving the 20+ hour car trip up to michigan from florida to pick up her kitties. Nothing was said for two months...and no donation was given. So i knew i had been tricked. She is now emailing me telling me that her cats were so thin and sickly when they were returned to her. These cats had been through --heck--, dropped off at a home, left there for months, then shoved into a car for almost two days to live, and thenm go into a brand new home. I would be stressed too! now she is treatening me and sapposibly she has emailed the head of petfinder to shut me down. I do not understand. I have over 20 letters now from fosterers, vets, people who have adopted and so on telling how myu cats are very well treated. They get few wysong and welness! it seems sometimes they get better food then myself. Im not sure what i should do now, can anyone help?? Exclamation

Depending on the content of the threatening emails, you might want to consult with the Shelby police dept. Threats via emial can be construed as harrassment.

Keep all your emails from her. Email is admissible as evidence and the evidence is that she is nuts. Dot your I's and cross your T's, keep your records and ignore this wacko. She has nothing except wild charges to back up what she is saying and the chances are excellent that even if she does write someone about you, she will be incoherent and her letter will be dismissed by them. You are taking her waaay to seriously.

Enjoy your weekend. Play with your kitties and forget she exists...

Peace,
Jane and the Hole in the Wall Gang
