That doesn’t seem unusual. How long a period is she crated ?

How old is the dog and why 20 minutes every hour? |

I think she meant 20 minutes to an hour (up to one hour)
Am I correct |

I probably misread it and I also have never crate trained my dog. Why even leave the dog in a crate for 20 minutes to an hour and then take her out? Aside from that the dogs behavior when being released from the pen doesn’t seem odd to me at all. |

Maybe she's doing the traditional crate training? Take dog out to poop and pee, when it doesn't, put the dog in the crate for 15-20 minutes, then take him back outside again. If he doesn't poop yet, put him back in the crate for another 15-20 minutes, and take back outside. By then he should poop and then he doesn't have to go in the crate. _________________ Held in captivity by three cats (Willow, Buffy, Molly) and one dog (Jake)

I’m sure you’re correct I never crate trained my adopted Yorkie. I didn’t have the heart to put him in a pen since he had spent the first 5 years of his life in horrible conditions.
He had a mouthful of rotting black teeth when I adopted him and one of his ears were shriveled from an abscess that had formed and was allowed to burst
The pet storeowner who had him and 60 other dogs that were rescued never gave him any veterinary care. Because his teeth were so bad the infection had actually spread to the jawbone, he was unable to chew and he was being fed dry food. The whole situation was heartbreaking.
He was also completely unsocialized I have had him for almost 6 years and he’s been a handful but well worth the time and expense.
Getting back to the dogs jumping with excitement issue: my feelings are it’s normal and perhaps the dog is looking at is a neat game he can play wih his owner.
