Do we know for certain that the man who was shot does not have family who are desperately looking for him and/or the dog right now? It makes sense for the shelters to hold onto pets for a little while, just to make sure there aren't families looking for them.
The happiest news would be for this poor dog to be reunited with its family - the second happiest would be for it to find a wonderful new home. |

| Trust me TwoPups, that is my first suggestion - if the pup has someone who already loves it and someone whom she is familiar with, I would insist that that be the first course of action. I am offering to adopt here ONLY in the case that there is no family to provide a good home for her. |

Oh, I had no doubt of that, Melissa! And I'm sure the dog will have a wonderful home with you! I just wouldn't be disappointed if they wait a while before you hear anything concrete.
This whole thread just got me thinking about the idea that someone may be hoping that the man and the dog escaped the city and are safe somewhere, and have no idea what happened to them...I'm sure there are a thousand other stories like this in NO right now.
It's just so sad... |

| Does anyone knows if the little dog was adopted before LA was flooded again by Rita? |
