i dont hear other breed owners saying, my golden is nice now but might turn agressive...not to say a golden cant...but to me that means that it is somewhat likely in pit bulls since it is mentioned fairly often...
if their personality is so uncertain and so (potentially) apt to change how can anyone with one be sure that they might not have a dangerous dog on their hands?? |
Dog aggression, not human aggression - 2 completely different things. You never hear the background of a dog when it has attacked... was it neutered, socialized, treated well, a member of the family? Most likely it was trained to be aggressive, not fixed, tied to a tree 24/7, taunted by children, allowed to run loose... the list goes on. You never hear the whole story...

Well said. |

i just re-read my post and i realize it sounds sort of judgmental & mean...i didnt intend for it to be sound that way!
it makes sense that there would be the possibility for aggression based on the breeds history as fighting dogs...and i'm sure its only made worse by people trying to breed for agression now
again, sorry if i came off sounding harsh! |

Because educated pit bull owners who have done their research going into ownership know that they may have to deal with animal agression as their animals age. This is something that they have thought about, planned for, and are already doing their best to avoid. For example, if they have other animals, they should already never be leaving the animals together unattended. It is just part of owning the breed, the same as a JRT owner needs to plan for lots of exercize, a doxie owner needs to be prepared for and avoid back trouble, etc.
BTW--when people state agressive here (like the animal may become aggressive), they are talking about animal agression, not people agression. So, I woudn't necessarily say they are expecting to have a "dangerous dog" on their hands...just one who may not do well with other animals... _________________ Don't say goodbye
