Only 5 people voted like me!!! But as I explained earlier I think the bans are useless!!!! I live in Ontario and I still see PB running loose...it's the bad owners that should be banned from owner ANY pet!!!!!

Thank you. She is a great dog like 80 % of the pit bulls out there. I have on occasion seen some pit bulls that are human aggressive but not many. Usually they are trained that way by their owners. The pit bulls that are human aggressive can be scary if you have to face one, luckily not many dislike people. I do not believe in BSL in any way shape or form, what I believe in is OSL ( Owner Specific Legislation ) I think some people are the ones that should be banned no the dogs, in my honest opinion I think a dog is only as bad as it's owner makes it, wether that be by ignorance or intention.

Voted Proud companion of a Pit bull mix but who knows what she is. I've posted this a couple times but here Karmel is when she was about 2 or 3 years old, about 10 years ago.

She is one of the finest souls I know, still today with cushings disease, arthritis, and failing vision she plays with a toy like shes a pup. Both of her adrenal glands are swollen with tumors, the vets and our family agreed surgery wasn't the best thing for her. We love her and are trying very hard to give her the good life.

Here she is today..
Our Sunshine. ( Embarassed Gosh, please ignore Duck Tape on the doggie door, Mouse has a head like a battering ram Embarassed )

Oh lilfey,

She is still gorgeous. I am keeping you & her in my thoughts/prayers. I hope when the time comes, that you will give her the ultimate gift. I wish we would have given SUGAR her gift of love, sooner than we did. We kept her on for our purpose, she was ready to go so much sooner. It was so hard to send her to rainbow bridge. KARMEL is a precious girl and I know you will do the best for her.

Nita Lindsey,

I have two prayers, one pure, one selfish.

Pure is the one that I'll know when the time is right, that she no longer has any quality in life.

Selfish of course when I pray not to have to make this decision.

I believe I will do the right thing, she deserves that. I promised her 12 odd years ago she wouldn't know hurt or abandonment again.

The vision is a worry cause she is getting grumpy when things come to sudden or to close to her (Aka, Mouse the 3 year old).

lilfey,

It's breaking my heart that you have to endure this. But, I know that many of us have to make THE decision to let them go to rainbow bridge. It doesn't seem the time yet. Hang in there and know that ya'll are in our prayers.

BOTH of your prayers, pure/selfish are because you are a great Mom. It is very hard but, when you can visually see that it is time, hopefully, you won't wait as long as we did with SUGAR.

You are in my prayers,

Nita

if you truly look, past yourself and your wants and needs, you will see when her time has come. she will tell you with her eyes, with her walk..
when the bounce is gone, when the joy is harder to get, she will tell you.

fear not. she will not be angry at your decision, or feel abandoned, or alone, if you stay with her and hold her till the end. in peace she will go, and you will know you did the right thing.

I have had to do this a few times over many years with doggie friends, and I feel they all understood, and wanted their time to be free.

you will know....

Cool

Post subject: I love "Petbulls" !!!

My hubby and I, of course, voted: PROUD owner of a Pitbull!

We have always been owned by GSD's and Huskies and I was scared of Pitties because all I knew about Pitties, is what I had heard on the news or read in the newspapers. But I ended up saving/rescuing a 17 months old, 85lbs, intact, purebred "petbull" named Loki, who had never been to a vet, never been trained, had never been on a leash, who had seperation anxiety to no end when I got him, and who was the most insecure dog the pit evaluator I contacted, had ever met. After one day with him, my hubby and I were in lovewith his breed. 5 months later, I found the perfect forever home for him.

Loki, by then, was neutered and had all his shots up to date, all paid for by me to save his life. When he left for his new Forever Home, and this is according to the pit evaluator, who again, checked him out, was one of the best trained, well behaved most confident pits she had ever met, LOL. (it took many, many , many hours on my part) I still see him often and he is now a healthy 97lbs of solid muscle and still as sweet as ever!

We missed Loki, the wigglebutt/velcro dog so terribly that, after a few months I went out and adopted a beautiful pit/husky mix (though I have not been able to see any husky in him, LOL) named Ducati, who looks a lot like Loki and also has the same sweet, loving, lovable wigglebutt and kissy tonque as Loki. Ducati joined us as a 14 week old puppy and is now a beautiful dog at 69lbs, who gets along great with our 60lbs, 6 yr old Husky girl named Silatuyok (cute and intelligent in Inuit Eskimo). We also have a cat, but she decided years ago not to like dogs and stays away from them. Until 2001 (before Loki), we also had a gorgeous, magical, blueeyed creature, an 85lbs Husky/Dobie mix named Troubles'sss, who was our velcro dog until we had to send her to the Rainbow Bridge at the age of 13.

Since adopting Ducati, I have also been fostering puppies (Sila Husky girl does not like adult girl dogs) for a rescue, http://www.hotwaterrescue.com/ (the Rescue I adopted Ducati from), who specializes in hard to place dogs such as Pitties, Rotties, Cane Corsos etc. Ducati is the perfect foster brother and adores every puppy we have ever fostered. Silatuyok greets them and then ignores them, I call her Miss Prissy, cause she would never lower herself to do anything but being a queen, LOL.

I will never own any other breed but "Petbulls" from now on because I just adore their love of people. Ducati is my soul dog and I have never regretted getting him, even though my family thinks I am nuts to take in such a viscious and dangerous breed.

After Loki came to live with us I spent months researching the breed, meeting people who have them and learned all I could about them and my heart breaks every time I see this so abused breed being abused even more (see GYPSY'S story here, graphic pix!) http://www.tricountyanimalrescue.net/index.aspx . I also donate every month to pitbulls who have been abused and I now try to educate everyone I meet about this special breed I call "PETBULLS". But, I also agree, that this breed is NOT for everyone but this breed needs an educated, dedicated & extra vigilant owner.

Very Happy proud momma of 2 pits. I also have an 100+lb akita mix and 2 kitties. I have not had any issues. I am carefull, but i would be with any dog. My female can be questionable with other females, so i just know to not risk it with friends dog. My one pit I even took to a 'dog expo' with tons of other dogs, and he did great. I worked at a shelter for 2 years and saw hundreds of pitties come through. I dont think any were human agressive (some were just very scared at first). Although some never adjusted to 'kennel life' and had to be put down. The ones to look out for were the little dogs! But i know they can be more sensitive to those situations. I got bit by quite a number of them without any warning. We did adopt pits them out, but only after house check. And we usually would not adopt to first time pet owners. No dog is for everyone. Thats why there are so many different breeds!
( i am only 100lbs, and i love big dogs. Apollo actually weighs more than me right now!)

I love pit bulls. =)

I try never to judge a dog based on breed, but on how they act, and to approach all dogs with respect and caution particularly if I don't know them and they don't know me.

I own a doberman so I know what it's like to have a big sweet lap dog that some people are afraid of. =/
