A possible adopter of my 3 parakeets called a few weeks back wanting to meet them.I said sure, let me know when. She said Friday she would call and let me know she was on her way.Come Friday,I recieved no phone call, nothing.I called her house and asked what happened and if she still wanted to meet them. Her reply,"i'm sorry,i forgot to tell you i was having kemotherapy on Thursday and am still not feeling good today, but i can try to call you tomorrow."I told her that's okay just call me when you're feeling better
I ask you,how would you even THINK you're gonna feel better ONE day after kemo,if she even had it?
After about three to 4 weeks, she called back AGAIN today. She said she was off her medications and anyday was fine for her to meet so we decided we could just meet today. She told me she would meet me in 1 hour.We ,as in me,the birds, and my mom, went to the set meeting place. We waited there for 2 hours in a place that we couldn't be missed.I called her several times on a nearby payphone, but all I got was her answering machine. After mom was REALLY ticked off that she had blown us off,AGAIN, we went home.
When we arrived back home,I called her house. When i asked to speak with her,her daughter, after a LOOOOONNNNNNGGG pause, said she was taking a nap.
HOw can someone be THAT ignorant, especially considering she lived 5 minutes from the meeting place while we had 30 minutes driving distance?
I am going to call her, again, tomorrow.I would LOVE to hear her excuse this time. And,if she thinks I'm gonna adopt my birds out to someone that ignorant i hereby conclude that she is psycho! |

| I think you should tell her you can't adopt the bird to her since she's so forgetful and inconsiderate of others, she might forget to feed the birds because she had to take a nap. |

I don't think I would bother calling her back. If she calls you, just nicely tell her you've decided on someone else.
If she really does have cancer I can't even imagine what she may be going through physically and emotionally.
Whatever the case may be, it's not so nice to call anyone psycho. |

This is the other side of the coin.
We see the "rescue doesn't answer" posts, but I think some people don't realize we get a lot of "adopter no show" also.
It is funny. When you are the type of person who is prompt, would never not call if you were late, always make appointments, etc....this CAN be a frustrating "line of work". It isn't always taken seriously from the one side (adopter) and it darn well is too busy on the other side (rescue).
We all have to have patience. But in your case? The fates are intervening, I would move along. You can be polite, let her know that you think that your organization and she are not compatible, wish her well, even give her some suggestions if you can. I tell people like this that it is FATE and that they should not feel bad and that I won't either. |
