Poll definitely needs more choices. I chose more afraid of a Pit but that is because of byb'ers and their trying to get more aggression from the dogs --- a Pit from a reputable breeder with quality dogs wouldn't concern me at all to be around.
As far as I have ever seen/heard/read a well bred and socialized Pit is extremely friendly and safe to be around for people (well, as much as any dog is safe) but still have the dog aggression issues of the breed (as does my chosen breed --- Neapolitan Mastiff)
I am a fairly good at reading strange dog's behavior so while I have been bit several times none could be considered IMO an aggressive/attack situation (ie. mostly blind dog startled by the appearance of my hand next to her head; being pulled back by one dog when trying to break up a fight/attack of other dogs; etc.) and for the most part don't have any problem approaching or being around dogs other than my own regardless of their breed(s).

I'm not afraid of any do based solely on breed. The dogs are usually a result of the owner. So, I'm more afraid of the lousy owners who mold their dogs into something less than desirable. I've metbeautiful examples of both breeds and would take one as a rescue dog. (I would, however, take the same precautions introducing them as I do with any foster dog.) _________________

Gee, I wish you had a choice for irresponsible pet owners, I won't check either choice you have now. My dog is a pit and is a big love bug, she plays with my daughter, and listens to commands.
Are you afraid of Pit Bulls? No, but I do fear for them.
If yes, why? I fear for them because of the cruel and irresponsible people in the world.
What do you know about them? I share my home with a pit.
Would you be more afraid of a Pit Bull or a Poodle, if you didnt know the temperament of either? I would be careful around both breeds.
Are you afraid of Rottweilers? No
If yes, why?
What do you know about them? I've been around a lot of them and have never had a problem.
Would you be more afraid of a Rottweiler or a Poodle, if you didnt know the temperament of either? I would be careful around both breeds. |

There definetly needs to be a neither to the poll.
We have had all kinds of dogs in our family through out the years. My dad had a wonderful Rotti, he was a sweet heart. Our Pit Bull who was put down last year due to illness was the most loving dog, I have ever owned. But now I own small dogs.
I would be leary of any dog that appears to be in the wrong hands though. |

I'm not "afraid" of any dog. Because I have spent a lot of time around dogs (especially large dogs) observing their behavior and body language I'm pretty good at being able to tell a dog's mood and temperment just from observation.
I am cautious around ANY unfamiliar dog simply because I don't know them very well. I usually don't approach a strange dog unless the owner is around and I can ask them about the dog's temperment, especially if I have my dog with me. I will not risk her safety just so I can say 'hi.'
I would have to say when I have my dog with me I will not generally approach a Pit because she is a small dog and there is a chance that she could trigger a pray drive response from a Pit who is dog aggressive. Same goes with Rotties. Even though I've owned a Rottie I know that they are a guardian breed and can be very protective of their families and property regardless of how sweet they are at home.
I don't know if that helped any... Good luck with your project! |

Not afraid of either breed. I have 2 rotties that are wonderful dogs (check out my handle). If I'm leary of a dog, it is because of that dog's body language, not breed. I think both breeds are great, with rotties being the greatest.
It's some owners you have to watch out for!! |

| I voted Rott only because I have a few around my area that I would not trust for all the money on earth. They are I am sure this way due to there owners, but large dogs that have been breed to guard or for aggression in any form I think realy should not be owned by anyone that is not able or willing to do the right kind of training and socializing. One of the rotts in my area I will not even walk down there block with my dogs cause I am pretty sure he can come over the fence if he wants and my little dogs would be done. |

*Are you afraid of Pit Bulls?
No more than a lab
*If yes, why?
*What do you know about them?
Working in a city run animal control shelter for 5 years, I've probably met 8,000 or so pitties. I know that they are extremely loyal, affectionate, intelligent, have a sense of humor, and are energetic, strong, determined terriers who chances are have some form of animal aggression ranging from 0% to 100% . I'm also mom to the best pittie on the planet
*Would you be more afraid of a Pit Bull or a Poodle, if you didnt know the temperament of either? (Or what breed would you be more afraid of?)
Depends on what I had to do to the dog. If I had to put both on an exam table, I'd be more cautious with the poodle. If I were walking my dogs down the street, I'd be more cautious of a pit bull.
*Are you afraid of Rottweilers?
No more than a bichon
*If yes, why?
*What do you know about them?
That they are generally big, cuddly, wigglebutts who would guard and protect me with their own lives.
*Would you be more afraid of a Rottweiler or a Poodle, if you didnt know the temperament of either? (Or what breed would you be more afraid of?)
Same as above answer with pitties. |

| I love pits. I am not afraid of them. I own a pit and foster run a pit rescue. They are loving animals that sick people abuse a train them for aggressive behavior. I have two children and my pit loves them and would never harm them. They are not the breed for everyone but are great dogs. You should be cautious of any dog you meet and take time to read body language. |

| I am always cautious and careful around a dog that does not know me, but I am afriad of no particular breed. Pits are one of my favorite big dog breeds. I have heard tale and talk of them being banned in my county, very sad. |
