I use garlic and havent had a flea problem for 2 years and I live in Indiana where fleas can be a huge issue. It is given everyday in summer, every other day in fall and spring, and once a week in winter. I buy it in a powdered form and actually cut the dose in half (since I give daily) I also make all my own dog beds and put cedar inside of them.

Flea shampoo, 20 Mule Team borax, and then something for your yard and you'll be in good shape. Get some Frontline from the vet and use that at the same time. Don't waste money on flea bombs.

Brewer's Yeast - Ilsa get three little tablets every day with her morning meal. It's worked (for me) loads better than any chemical the vets have produced.

Not to say that they arne't effective, but my dog is sensitive to Frontline/Advantage, and my cat like the taste of it... blech.

You can buy brewers yeast from Petsmart, but I have seen posts from PF'ers that say they can buy it cheaper from GNC and the like.

I ge tthe brewer's yeast tablets at GNC for $5. Since Ilsa gets three tablets per day, that means one jar from GNC lasts me around 6 months.

Hello,
I work for a vet and I have found the best products to use on dogs for flees is The brewers yeast and also lever 2000. No kidding the kind you use on people is good for dogs. It not only keeps flees off naturaly but it helps moisturise their coats it does not dry out their coats. (the one with aloe smells great on them) I have pugs and they have sensative skin also and this has been great. Do you make and sell your beds I am looking for some for christmas. Well hope all of this helps.

As a groomer, I must protest. You shouldn't bathe your pet with human shampoo. It's not formulated for canine/feline skin. If you must use a flea shampoo, use an all natural shampoo such as PurePet's Pure O Flee Citrus flea shampoo.

Hello,
Most people shampoos are not recommended for dogs. The shampoo must contain and not contain certain ingredients to be considered safe and effective for use. Many of the Vets I have been to and worked for Plus Texas A and M also agree that lever 2000 is safe and effective for animal shampoo and flea preventive. So I believe that lever 2000 is a good flea shampoo that can be used on animals.

I work with veterinary specialists (including many great dermatologists) and they all agree that pet shampoos should be used on pets.

Can you please post the studies that Texas A&M have done, showing that Lever 2000 is safe on animals?
