I looked at the Down Rover product explanation and am wondering what you do when the dog is outside on the leash and starts to jump as someone passing you on the sidewalk. Your photos show the shield in a controlled, very limited environment where there's no other activity and there's nothing around the dog but the human at the door. Please explain. Thanks.

From the website...please note, I am posting this in response to dogsbark's question and is not intended as an endorsement of the product!

"Down Rover" is intended to be used in a controlled setting, for training purposes. It's function is to block the dog's landing spot, allowing you to simultaneously give the command; "no, down, off", etc while you are preventing the landing. Jumping is a particularly difficult behavior to manage. This the aid you use to "get through to them". It interrupts the activity, defuses the behavior, and redirects their attention, to you, where it should be. Our experience, in the past two years of developing this, that "Down Rover" has successfully corrected the jumping behavior, in as little as a couple of days. As with any training, it must be done with 100% consistency, to expect results. It requires little, if any, reinforcement (with the shield). Regarding how to control your dog if you are not in a controlled setting, as with being outdoors, the intention is for the dog to be obedient to your command, so that they know "Off means Off", when they attempt to jump. If the dog jumps at people while you are on a walk, I would not allow the dog to get close enough to a passerby until he obeys the command.
