I hired someone to watch my daughter who said she would come to my home and help out with light housekeeping and letting the dog out from time to time while I was at work. It turns out she is allergic to the cat and says she can't come to my house to watch my daughter anymore, but she will watch her at her house, for the same price. It happens to be quite expensive, and looking into full time pre-k programs, I would save about $500 a month if I switched my daughter to one of those, and then have a little extra for a pet sitter to stop by to walk the dog once a day. I just hate to tell someone that I don't want them to babysit anymore. She is a nice person. Anyone have advice on the best way to break the news?

So she's offering to provide far fewer services for you, for the same price? I don't see where there's much need to protect anyone's feelings.

"Thanks for all you have done for us. From a budgetary standpoint, I really need to accomplish all that we had agreed upon for the money I would be spending. I've looked into some alternatives, and will be sending DD to a terrific pre-K program I've found, where she'll not only get care, but be able to make friends and start some fun and educational programs. I'll find someone else to take care of the pets. Thanks so much!"
