Hi All,
I am from Monroe County Ohio where we take in dogs from the Monroe area and Noble County. Noble has finally got a humane society established, but no building and all the members are somewhat new to these things. They have been helping owners care for their animals until I can get them into rescue so we can keep the Monroe shelter from filling up. This is working in 4 months we have moved close to 50 dogs/puppies into rescue. I myself have been doing the transports with my car or a friends truck.
The real problem lies with this. I have started a low-cost spay and neuter clinic and I offer it to anyone that can get their animals to the meeting locations. This has really began to take off we have altered 73 dogs from the area and have over 25 signed up to go to get altered. We have this clinic one day a month for now while I am in college, because I drive home and drive the van full of dogs to the clinic 3 hours away. We have had our trusty little van that has over 200,000miles put on it for transports to the east coast and to the vet. The van died on my on the last transport and was hauled back on a tow truck.
We are in need of a cargo van!!! We have some public donations, but no where near enough. We are having a car dealership near us look for a van, they told us a decent van is going to run us around 5000. We are begging and pleading for the animal communities help. We are getting through to the people in Noble County who have never had anyone to help with the animals except to tell them they will be euthanized. I have wrote a grant to the ASPCA for more spay and neuter money to help even more people that may not have the low cost prices, but we are going to be forced to end this program if we cannot raise money for the cause.
We are putting our plea on the radio, newspaper, and I am asking everyone to please crosspost. Donations can be sent through paypal or checks can be mailed. Please let me know if you have any questions. We have close to a $1000 fund-raised and we are beginning to plan more fundraisers. We may not being altering hundreds of dogs in a month, but we are getting through to people and our numbers are continuing to grow.
