Last winter we had a lot of rain that lasted well into our dry season.
We'd lived in the house for 5 winters and had never seen so much standing water in our back yard as we did last winter!
I wanted to hire a company to come in and do the yard work that desperately needed to be done in the backyard.
Especially since I'm not supposed to do any kind of work like that until my shoulder heals and hubby will only do stuff like that on days he doesn't work.
- Work on the drainage around the shop we built the summer of 2010
- Fix the retaining wall
- Bring in soil where the large concrete patio was removed so we could lay sod
Even my dad who is Mr. "Never Hire Someone When You Can Do The Work Yourself" said he would hire someone to do that work if this was his house.
Hubby wouldn't hear of that because it was all work he could do.
We've had a very dry winter until the past week or so.
The "Pineapple Express" has come in with a vengeance, now we are having flooding rains and there is no end to the rain in sight.
We already have more standing water in our backyard than we've ever had and if this keeps up, I imagine we'll have water in the shop.
All because he didn't want to hire people to spend a week or so fixing the problems.
I'm trying not to stress about it since there's nothing I can do but I'm so frustrated because he does stuff like this frequently, then stuff doesn't get done and it causes problems down the line.
But I've decided I'm going to contact the company and have them take care of it when they can. If hubby doesn't like it, too bad. _________________ Want to know what I have been up to? Visit my website!

| I can sympathize. We have an electrical issue in our kitchen and my hubby is trying to fix it. We've been eating dinner in the dark since last weekend. I'm ready to go behind his back and call in a professional to fix it. Maybe I should threaten him with making him sleep on the sofa...... |

My DH is in the construction trade and all the major remodeling inside has been done by me... the one who has self taught herself to repair holes, hang wallpaper, paint and starting to learn how to texture. I finally got the toilet replaced after I threatened to call a plumber.
When we were first married, I had some plates I wanted hung after the hallway was painted. A year later I took matters in my own hands. I used a hot glue gun and glued my plates to the wall. DH came home and was quite surprised I did it. When I told him how, he went outside for a very looooong time. He then came in, pried them off the wall. That saturday, my hallway was painted and my plates were properly hung. Every time I want something done, I remind him of the plate episode. |
