| We have a retention pond right behind our house, and when it snows and gets cold it is where everyone goes sledding. It is understood and taught to the kids to stay away from the big drain in the corner, there is a grate over it, but still the kids are taught to stay away. I told my 11 and 3 year old we could go sledding today. I mistakenly told the 11 year old "go ahead, we'll be there in five minutes. She decided to sled over the drain to impress the other children there, and flipped around and somehow got her leg stuck in the drain. It took 10 minutes to get her out, we were ready to call 911, but she freed herself right then. Her leg is all bruised up and it hurts, but it's going to be okay. Hopefully she learned her lesson. |
