Post subject: Frustrated with accidents

I adopted 2 small, 1 yr old dogs within recent months. I keep them on a consistant schedule with eating. I walk them 1st thing in the morning, about an hour later,I feed them, then take them out about 20 minutes later.I get ready for work, walk them again, and then crate them. Sometimes I come home at lunch and walk them again. The minute I come home from work, I walk them again. A half hour later I feed them, then again take them out. As bedtime nears around 8pm, I walk them once again. Generally, I fall asleep watching TV, and if I wake up around 11 pm, I walk them again before heading upstairs for the night. But I must be doing something wrong because they are having accidents one to two times a day. If I wasn't walking them I would say I am to blame, but as you can see, I am walking them at least 6-7 times a day.
Help! I need advice!

Are they male or female, and are they spayed/neutered? I have found that small dogs are not usually as reliable with housetraining as larger dogs at any point, but especially not at only one year of age and in a new home. Any small dog I have fostered and also my own shih tzu has always required a strict schedule, management, and supervision when it comes to pottying. My larger dog has always held it until I could let her out. She would never dream of going in the house. Small dogs are not always like that. Also, IME small breed puppies usually take about a year before they are housetrained. Your two are young yet and in a new home so that may have something to do with it. You may be walking them 6-7 times a day, but are you supervising them in between so they can't make a mistake?

I'm curious as to when these "accidents" are happening... and if its piddle or poo - generally speaking they are getting out enough as long as they are indeed given enough time to potty correctly there shouldn't be much of an issue.
One can always try taking up the water bowl after dinner before your TV time and their last walks.
