Post subject: GREENVILLE SC HOUNDLOVERS..DESPERATE READ.....

This is Mildred. She is a SENIOR blue tick coonhound that is 1 of 12 dogs that have been rotting at Greenville Shelter for over 4 months. Mildred and her friends were selected to be saved by Greenville County Animal Care Services' adoptions program, however, no one ever came to adopt. So these dogs waited....and waited.... and waited. At this point, these dogs are so depressed with 24/7 confinement that they can barely lift their heads when a person walks by. They are going to be euthanized tomorrow without help. The shelter believes death will be more humane than forcing them to go on indefinitely in a cramped, horribly stressful shelter environment with 1 or maybe 2 relief
walks a day as their only break from --heck--. I agree. These dogs can't go on like this. They need help, and they need it now. I have found a wonderful 501c3 group to take 6 (yes, 6!) of these underdogs, and another group to take another awesome dog (the very sweet and submissive victim of an attack by another kennelmate) plus 1 mama cat and 4 older kittens, however there is nowhere for them to go for 2 weeks, and no money to get them to New England. The shelter won't hold them anymore. I am begging for sponsors for the dogs (Mildred, Gunther, Carlos, Buster, Porky and Camree), the mama cat, her 2 kittens, and the other 2 older kittens. I can't save any of these lives without help. Transport is $125 per dog because they are over 40lbs each, and I will have to find out about the cats....I think that 5 of them will be about $150 but I will confirm with the transport. I
also need to find a 2-3 week foster for these animals, as the shelter cannot hold the until next transport, and the rescue can't accomodate them until then anyway. If there is anyone who can sponsor a dog or cat, you can let me know which one. I will send pics of all of them to anyone interested. I am writing from my phone, so I can only send 1 photo at a time. Also, any other rescues interested can certainly take these dogs provided you are approved by the shelter (please do!) I just want them safe and sound. If you would like to sponsor transport, let me know and I will obtain payment instructions from their 501c3 rescues, or you are welcome to pay directly to the transport company...whatever you prefer. Thanks for considering helping!!! Liz Smile
