Part time Animal Care Technician:
Provide all adoptable animals with exercise, attention, love, feeding, and grooming requirements. Clean animal housing, bedding and food/water dishes. Learn dog/cat breed characteristics. Educate potential owners on animal handling and behavior. Be knowledgeable of animals on premises. Introduce those animals to potential owners while utilizing specific animal history and information. Keep managers apprised of assigned animals’ emotional and physical condition. Maintain daily records for assigned animals. Continuously inspect assigned area for needed bedding, water, and food, as well as animals’ condition. Perform basic medical procedures (obtain fecal samples, medication administration, etc.) and relay any pertinent medical issues to Animal Care Manager. Follow safety and sanitation policies throughout facility in order to maintain HWAC standards of excellence.
Must be at least 18 years of age. Some animal handling experience preferred. Dog and cat familiarity highly desirable. Must possess professionalism, courtesy, tact, and sound judgment. Strong interpersonal skills and attention to details highly desirable. Must have good verbal and written communication skills. Able to work in both a team, as well as a self-directed environment. Able to properly handle, exercise and control large, and/or difficult dogs and cats. Able to safely lift 50 lbs. Must be able to work closely with animal dander/hair.
Salary: $9.25/hour
