Join us to unveil the nation's first memorial statue honoring animals lost
in Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. In New Orleans City Council chambers,
Councilwoman Stacy Head will accept the statue on behalf of the city. We've
commissioned well-known artist, Mr. Richard Chashoudian. An invocation will
be read along with a special reading by Ed Kostro, poet and author.
OTHER AUTHORS WILL READ PASSAGES FROM THEIR WORKS:

During the 2005 storm season, tens of thousands of people helped our city in
its darkest hour -- when failed levees and floods stranded thousands of
residents and over 50,000 companion animals. A staggering number of animals
perished. The loss of life was incalculable. ..but we are forever indebted to
small and large humane organizations, caring individuals, first responders,
municipal animal control agencies, and foundations that came to our aid. _________________ RIP my furry boy. Mama loves you.
