During the 2005 storm season, tens of thousands of people helped our city in
its darkest hour -- when failed levees and floods stranded thousands of
residents and over 50,000 companion animals. A staggering number of animals
perished. The loss of life was incalculable. ..but we are forever indebted to
small and large humane organizations, caring individuals, first responders,
municipal animal control agencies, and foundations that came to our aid.
RIP my furry boy. Mama loves you.
