It's no fault of NoWhere Man's. Getting him to the vet took time. Getting a bone specialist to consult took time and getting the money to see the vet took time. He had some offers but we weren't able to check them out thoroughly before I completed his vetting. If he's lost out on a home it's my fault. Please crosspost for NoWhere Man. We are very full. We will have to approve adopters or rescues. We want to make sure he never has to fend for himself again. NoWhere Man is very fond of food and a soft bed so he wants us to make doubly sure, too!

"He's a real Nowhere Man ;;" Here's this guy's story. A couple found
him living in a feral colony. They noticed how friendly he was and
thought he was a spayed, declawed female. They asked us to find him a
home and gave us $125 to do so. He was in terrible shape, matted fur,
diarrhea, upper respiratory -- so the focus went into getting him
back in shape physically. Through all of this he remained a very
friendly cat. It was soon discovered that he was not a she and he was
not declawed -- something was obviously wrong with his feet. A first
trip to the vet explored a possible neurological condition (Lyme test
$38, fecal $10, venipuncture $15, office visit $30); a second trip to
the vet resulted (finally) in an x-ray ($50 2 views metacam to
relieve possible pain $2.50) showing that his 2 front ankles have
been broken and healed back improperly, resulting in the way he walks
(see his video).
The xrays were sent away to consult with a specialist and they
determined that his legs were not broken but that he had very severe
arthritis. NoWhere Man will need pain medication and joint
supplements as well as a more sedentary lifestyle. He is currently taking Metacam and a joint supplement.
He is a very loving cat. He enjoys having people groom him and loves to be held. He has no trouble moving around and uses the litterbox as any other cat would. He just needs a little medicine and a little extra rest.
Finding him a great home would be a great
first step. "Nowhere man, please listen, you don't know what you're
missing, Nowhere Man, the world is at your command."

walks.
Please crosspost to help NoWhere Man find a safe and loving, lifelong
home......

What a beautiful cat. If I was in any position to adopt another cat I would snatch him up in a heartbeat. I have a thing for the special needs babies. I can't imagine you having a hard time to find him a home though.
To where is transport available? There isn't really much point to send out his info to Wisconsin if he can't even get there.
Thanks. _________________

Is he sponsored? If not would that help? I was going to mention to you that he may be a good candidate for a product called Cosequin, its a joint supplement with none of the risks of NSAIDS...just a thought. Best of luck with him!

bcoo, you can't blame yourself for a second for any delay in having Nowhere Man available for adoption/rescue. The tests had to be completed to determine his full medical prognosis and any possible treatment options. There is a home out there for Mr. Nowhere Man. I'm as sure of that as I'm sure of anything.
If there is anything I can do to help this sweet boy, please let me know. |

Thanks krazykats and everyone. We travel north and north east fairly regularly. We have friends all across america and some in canada who will help with transport. In the case of a special needs dog or cat the challenge is qualifying a rescue or adopter that is far away.
I have travelled very far before to check out a rescue or sanctuary or private adopter but I no longer have the funds to do a check like that so I would need to find an independent party who would be willing to do a rescue/home check in any area where he may finally reside.
We do not want NoWhere Man to end up in a shelter again. |
