Better than what I deal with. I usually wake up during the night at least 4 times or so. Once in a while a song will be playing over and over in my head, not the whole song, just a few refrains. The other night it was Before He Cheats by Carrie Underwood. I don't even like the song!

id hang up. it is good the business knows thier limits and isnt taking on clients they cant handle.

i think its rude of people to think that they have a right to be accepted by this business that obviously cant take on more clients right now. i mean, how strange!

I agree 100%.
I voted that I'd hang up but I would definitely try again at a later date.
A company that knows its limits is exactly the type of people that I prefer to give my business to.

It's a grooming business.

I work alone and have most of my regular clients' numbers programmed into my phone so I can try to answer when they call. Unfamiliar numbers go to voicemail. My voice message is a pretty neutral "not taking new clients at this time, sorry" type of thing. I deliberately did not include options for call-backs.

I have no idea how to make it any less offensive. Some people seem to take it as a personal affront. Several people are leaving multiple messages, some pretty irate. There are not enough hours in the day for me to call all of these people back just to tell them what the voice message already told them and it wouldn't make financial sense to hire additional help just to do that since I have no interest in increasing my volume or dealing with employees.

It's great that business is so good and I'm very grateful for that in an unstable job market, but I wish I knew how to handle this whole phone thing. Several people will call the vet clinic in which I lease space and try to get them to leave a message for me if they can't get me on my line. Some people are pretty aggressive.

I'd leave a pleasant voicemail with my contact information letting them know I would be interested if and when they start taking new clients again.

Maybe something to the effect of "Thank you for calling ________. If you are an established client please leave a message and I will get back to you as soon as possible. If you are not an established client please leave your contact information and I will contact you at my soonest available appointment."

Just a thought..
