Post subject: Greg & Divinity Update from Greg
Reply with quote

Hi, this is Greg from the show. We thought people would be interested in our and Hunter's progress. Hunter is now fully acclimated into our home and our lives. We absolutely adore him and are so grateful to Pet Finder and the production company for allowing this to happen.

For the first few weeks he was very shy and would only come out of the kennel we set up in our bedroom when he really had to go potty. He would return to it almost immediately. After 2 or 3 weeks of this and much coaxing on our part, he would lie in the shower stall adjacent to our home office when we were working and actually preferred to lie on the bare tile and not the pillow we set up in the shower. It was about this time that he started to go up and down stairs relatively unassisted (I still had to carry him a lot of the time though!)

There have been so many changes since those times. He is such a good dog it is almost indescribable. He is great off leash and the words "dog park" are enough to send him into a frenzied Irish Jig. Nesta is his pal and they are never far from each other. He even smiles!

We took some pictures of his first dog park visit. Like any proud parent, we have hundreds more.

Thank you for adopting him. It was clear that Nesta and Hunter were compatible. BTW I like the name Hunter.

You guys are wonderful for not only adopting Hunter but for being so patient with his initial shyness. We adopted a shy puppy last May and it has been so rewarding to watch her blossom into a happy, outgoing, dog. You are going to make great parents and I wish you many blessings in the future.

Greg and Divinity,

I echo everything that everyone else has said. I can see where it's pretty darn easy to love both of your dogs. Thanks for being part of something so great!

Also, it was refreshing to hear you say how it was a lot of work (going through the Petfinder process, etcetera) but that it's really been worthwhile (I may not have quoted you exactly). I hope that other people out there who don't have a team helping them will not give up on the pet adoption/rescue process because it doesn't just happen overnight. What's that expression ... anything that's great is WORTH waiting for ... I think that's it.

Best wishes to both of you ... oops, all four of you! Again, thanks for updating us.

Thanks you guys. The shyness was fun to watch him get over. Everything, I mean EVERYTHING was a new experience. Watching an adult dog have all of these new challenges and watching him face them more boldly each time is very rewarding. He was totally accident prone too. On his first day he snapped at a bee and got stung in the mouth. Then, because he had never seen a pool before and he stepped right off the patio and into the pool. He then walked right into a plate glass door. He's now got it all figured out and then some. I caught him on the couch early one morning recently. He knows he shouldn't be on the couch and as soon as he saw me, he slinked off with a chagrined look on his face. He learns fast.

Thanks for posting Greg. Am so happy to hear that things are going well in your home. Hunter is really a tall boy, isn't he? Laughing

It is good to know too that Nesta loves his companionship and there are no jealousy issues. And yes, it is wonderful to see 'em overcome shyness and get into the loving, homelife groove.

Thanks for giving Hunter a great home! I'm sure he'll be a whole lot happier at your house than he has ever been before. It's so neat that their is now a show that features animal adoptions and goes behind the scene. Thanks to the show, hopefuly the 2000+ people that immediately went to Petfinder.com will adopt a homeless pet.

Give him a big hug'n kiss for us!

It is great to see home pictures of Nesta and Hunter. They both look wonderful and truely happy. I have always loved Greyhounds and Hunter looks like an extra special baby. Especially the last pic.
