For argument's sakes, let's say these are all the same amount. The one to an individual store is one that you would actually shop at. The "general gift card" includes mall gift cards/certificates, Visa/Amex gift cards, and Amex gift checks.

I think I'd rather have the gift card (as long as it's to a store I would shop at). If I got cash or check it would pay bills. LOL

I'm torn, so I didn't vote. A gift card would be nice, as long as its to a store I would shop at. Cash/check would be nice because I could buy whatever I wanted.

I guess it would depend on if it were for me or the shelter. for me, the gift card, for the shelter cash or a check...can't buy kitty litter at the mall Rolling Eyes

Gift card, because like another said I would pay bills with the cash. And when I shop for other people, I prefer to give none of the above. Too impersonal. I really prefer to give gifts.

I tell everyone no more gift cards for me. Some of these cards expire soon. Some start being worth less money each month, and some get paid for and then they never get activated and when you go to use them they are no good. It's a big hassle for someone to try to find the charge to prove that it was paid for especially across country. Even if I use the money for bills it is appreciated. I really prefer a present. I collect things so if they are having trouble buying things, they can get something for my collections. I also have people making donations to charities for me and sometimes the charity sends a card telling me. That always makes me happy too.

While I really like the idea of a gift card becasue it shows that the person knows what you're interested in and took the time to go get you that gift card--I'd still prefer cash. I don't really need more stuff and I could really use the cash whether it be for filling up the tank in my car, or bills (particularly vet bills), saved for when I needed it, or even if I just decided to take a friend out to dinner or a movie with it. Cash/check/visa gift card would be my choice.

I'd rather have a giftcard. I never carry cash, because I end up spending it on silly things.

I would rather get a general gift card. I have GCs for specific stores that I'm sure the giver THOUGHT I would like, but have never used. At least with a general GC, you can use it to pay for 'necessities' like groceries, pet supplies, etc. if you can't find anything at the stores you'd like.

I rarely need another sweater, but I can always use a 40 lb bag of dog food or some hay! Laughing

I'd rather have cash than anything else. I need the money for other things. Can't pay vet bills at Oldnavy you know what i mean?
