Hi everyone,
Here's a new posting for a found yellow lab.

Her story is posted on NOLA (crossposted with permission)

I was put into contact with a man trying to give away an older Labrador. After hearing the dog’s story, I have decided to find the previous owner of the dog, before attempting to adopt her out.
Here is Molly’s story:The Labrador wandered onto the man’s land in the Fall of 2006, (he is unsure of the exact month). His land is located in the 74000 block of Gottschalk RD, Covington, LA 70435. The physical address of the land is Covington, but it is located in Goodbee. Gottschalk Road is a dividing line for ST Tammany Parish and Tangipahoa Parish. She had very raw front pads (but not back pads) when she arrived on his property.

He assumed the owner of the dog would come looking for her eventually, so he left her on his property for several months. She did not wander off his property during this time. He said she loved to chase the deer off of his property. The man loved the dog, but his circumstances changed and he was no longer able to keep her. He was trying to do the right thing by finding her a good home.

I took her to the vet. She was not microchipped. She is heartworm negative. The vet believes she is 4+ years. She is starting to turn gray around her muzzle, but has very little tarter build up on her back molars. There are no signs of cataracts in her eyes. She is around 80 lbs. She is a very unique color. She is a dark yellow color, almost tan. She appears to be a purebred Labrador.

She prefers to be inside of the house. She is crate trained. I tell her to go in her crate and she walks right in. She also sits and shakes. She walks well on the leash. She is okay with dogs, but is definitely an alpha dog. She does not like cats. She gets very excited when she sees children. She loves to play fetch. She does not destroy stuffed toys.

Photos of her can be viewed at http://s242.photobucket.com/albums/ff229/johns233/Molly/ .

Please contact me at getmollyhome@gmail.com for further information.

She's also been posted on Craigslist: http://neworleans.craigslist.org/pet/438765223.html

Does this yellow lab sound familiar to anybody? Does anyone know of a missing yellow lab from St. Tammany or Tangipahoa Parish? Or one that was rescued from NOLA and ended up in those parishes? This is definitely someone's dog.

Thanks for any leads.

Eileen

PF Lost reports for Yellow Labs (if you want to run a different search, click on "Search Lost Pets" link at top, if you do a search for just "Labrador" the list is of course much longer and includes some dogs for whom no descriptive info was entered (such as the color)); may be helpful to note which city the dogs were lost from as you're viewing as descriptions are generally pretty skimpy:
http://disaster.petfinder.com/emergency/rescue/search.cgi?typemissing=1&disaster=KATRINA&animal=Dog&breed=Yellow+Labrador&sex=F&fullText=&location=&street=&idtype=&idvalue=&name=&dateSince=&limit=32
Don't know LA well at all so don't know if these cities are in the right area, here are a couple that came up in the longer "Labrador" search:
lost from Kenner, LA:
http://disaster.petfinder.com/emergency/rescue/reportDetail.cgi?id=61938
Lost from Gretna, LA:
http://disaster.petfinder.com/emergency/rescue/reportDetail.cgi?id=51877
Listed as a Yellow Lab/Golden Retriever mix, lost from Violet, LA. - so color is likely right, no photo:

I suggest you make contact with these folks too if you haven't already:

Thanks, I'll check these out. I did a search but want to go through this to see if I missed anything.
